A friend introduced me to this most excellent place, & I've taken many of my friends to it. All have expressed delight & enjoyment afterwards. I've also recommended it to others, who have without fail commented favourably.

This area used to be a bit of a desert for eating; now, the area near the Globe offers several chains. Which is fine, if that's what you want.

Walk down the road, though, for something a bit out of the ordinary. It's Anatolyan cooking, & offers subtle combinations of flavours for quick meals & for heartier main course offerings.

I have never been disappointed - even when it's very busy, the service is still polite and efficient. The food is tasty & filling - excellent on a cold winter's afternoon or early evening. I have tried (!) to eat my way down the menu: boat-shaped pizzas with a twist, which are made on the premises & cooked in a wood-burning oven, which you can see from your table. These are very modest in price. As previous reviewers have mentioned, complimentary bowls of soup, with bread, olives & humous are brought to your table while you decide from the extensive (but not pretentious) menu. Tas Pide also offers an unusual & different selections of puddings, which are great fun to try if there are a couple of you; the waiters are very understanding of 'one plate, two spoons'! The house wine is reasonable, and you can buy wine by the glass. If there's a party of 8-10 people in, then the atmosphere can be a tad loud, but visit out of standard 'rush' hours, & you'll find it welcoming yet tranquil.

Enjoy! Service is amazingly efficient & unfailingly polite.

I've been here twice and have enjoyed the experience both times.

They serve an array of what I can only describe as Lebanese pizzas with various exotic toppings.

The portions are generous, and both times we were offered a free bowl of soup as well as the standard olives and bread.

Our favourite was a desert item; dried apricots filled with home-made cream.

The service is quick and the staff are courteous.

The location is a bit unfortunate, being located in between London Bridge and Southwark, and if you're a slow walker like myself it takes 15 minutes from either station to walk there (no buses). I advise taking a map!

My husband (who is Turkish) and I went to this restaurant and were thoroughly disappointed. We expected that a pide restaurant would have good pide, but sadly, the pide was horrible. I ordered the kararsik pide, which has cured beef, feta cheese and mushrooms. The cured beef was worse than beef jerky and was extremely salty. I had this in Turkey and it was delighful, but at this restaurant I couldn't even eat two bites (and I'm not a picky eater at all). My husband ordered a pide with ground beef, tomato, onion and pine nuts. It had absolutely no taste. We will not be going there again.

Went on a Saturday evening.

The best thing was the live guitarist who was excellent although best heard in the toilets because it's very noisy. Like most restaurants the tables are crammed together back to back, shoulder to shoulder. If you dont mind this you might like the buzzy atmosphere.

I like the decor - erzazt Turkish but quite well done and looks more Turkish than places I have been to in Turkey.

Starters were OK -generous portions but a bit unimaginative. Mains were quite good. Sweet was dreadful (Katmer - I think) Wine was also dreadful and not particularly cheap.

Service was pretty good considering how busy they were - plenty of staff.

I have been before and remember a similar experience.

We would have gone elsewhere but it's handy for the Globe Theatre, the weather was awful and the place we really wanted to go to turned out to be closed.

I would go somewhere else next time.

Only complaint was the furniture: Chairs were low to the ground and the table wobbled so much we thought we would spill our drinks. However our meals and the service were spot on! The Friday pre-theatre rush made it busy but servers were attentive and brought us free bread, a yummy yoghurt-dill dip, and olives. My husband asked for more and they brought more right away (again no charge). We didn't order wine so can't comment on that but would recommend trying the pides. Ingredients were fresh with lots of flavour and tasty seasonings. The restrooms were very clean and surprisingly posh. If you like a quiet dining experience with lots of elbow room, this isn't the place. But we enjoyed the atmosphere, lively and a bit loud. We plan to go back.

This is a lively restaurant and the service was fine as was the complimentary bread, after that it was all downhill. I'm vegetarian and had a dish of green peas.

This appeared to be tinned peas with 2 very soft small boiled potatoes , half a can of tomatoes , oil and 2 slices of spring onion. It tasted of very little apart from tinned peas and I cannot believe they serve this up.

My companion had lamb with cous cous. It would barely have fed a child. He said the cous cous - which was orange was not very nice and the lamb was average.

The house red was bareable - no body and a bit of a rough kick but ok.

Wouldn't eat here again.

This place is supberb! Went for the first time today and, as a veggie was pleased by the wide range of veggie friendly meals. The food was superb, the service excellent and the ambience gorgeous. I can't understand why anyone could have a bad word to say about this place. I will definitely go again and would certainly recommend it to anyone without reservation. Even with service included it was reasonably priced considering its location. Marvellous!

i visited as part of a large group. the complimentary bread was stone cold. disappointing start. starters of felafel was okay, though a teeny bit under salted. my main of steak was requested medium rare. it turned up very well done which peed me right off. the fries were unsalted and most likely from the freezer judging by their cut and texture.

the 'fresh' orange juice was anything but.

Five old school friends met for a reunion at Tas Pide on the recommendation of one. We travelled various distances and I had read a poor review on the internet before leaving North Wales and was a little apprehensive.

BUT ..... the food was superb, the service was excellent and very good humoured. Decor and general atmospher very good.

The price was very reasonable considering the location.

ABSOLUTELY RECOMMENDED.

Three of us went there yesterday at 5pm after my wife and a friend had seen a play at the Globe Theatre just around the corner. No problem getting a table as long as we were out by 6.30pm (we hadn't booked). Complimentary bowl of excellent soup followed my a meze-type meal. House white was fine, house red was truly awful (Gamay). The place was clean, the staff attentive and the food excellent. We shall definitely go again. Our first experience of Turkish food.

PS I cannot understand the previous bad revues. All I can say is that when we left, the restaurant was packed with very happy looking customers.
