Abbaye is a favourite of mine for either lunch or dinner. The staff are always attentative but not too much. The food is always of a high standard even if you just have a salad.

However, I would suggest they change the menu as I have gone through most of it now.

I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone.

I adore the Abbaye and my sister and I often sneek in when hitting the shops. The food is lovely and reasonable and the service is always very firendly.

My boyfriend and I are visiting Abbaye regularly. I prefer to have seafood when I am at the seaside so we usually go for other meals especially the burgers are really nice. They also do some very good Belgian beers, brewed in monasteries. It has very nice atmosphere if you manage to find a table outside it is fantastic.

However I think the service needs improvement. They usually don't have enough people to serve. So once you ordered (you need to be fast, though) and served your food and drinks you are left to yourself and it would be it little difficult to catch the attention of the waiter, who is trying to serve maybe 4 tables at the same time. For the same reason the tables are stained and are not cleaned frequently.

It's a trusted friend, L'Abbaye. I am big fan. It pays to prefer Moules as a dish as this is what chef does best. Fab portions and they come doused in a wicked soup. Have frites if you must, but fresh bread would be better. Oh and incidentally, frites are frites - if you want McCain oven chips go to a chippie. Yes, the service can be on occasion be ponderous and dream-like but you must be firm and wave a napkin, if necessary, like Michael Winner. Great beer, too, but again you have to have a liking for fruit beer in the first place...

I enjoyed dinner with friends at this spot overlooking a park over the weekend. It was lively, the service was friendly, and if you want moules- ou steak-frites, you'll be OK. I had two Belgian beers and les moules du jour (with leek and mushrooms in a cream sauce), and my wife had the moules provençal with a bottle Sancerre and a waffle for dessert. The mussels were cooked fine, and the chips were crispy enough for me and served with a nice mayonnaise. My cream sauce was tasty but broken, which is perfectly edible but not really acceptable in a restaurant. The tomato sauce had a surprising bite to it, which was welcome. The waffle may have been better than the meal, and that could probably be said of all the desserts our party ordered. The side of chips appeared small, but the full order of mussels and chips was just enough for me to eat once the waitress brought some bread to soak the sauce. The beers would be standard in any Belgian bar, but I like Mardesous triple, so that's fine. I didn't appreciate them bringing me a pint(!) of Hoegaarden in a Stella glass, though. The Sancerre was lovely. Overall, I was unimpressed. If you want to stay in Bromley, this is a fine spot with fine food and drink, but if you want to compare, Belgo has a better selection of food and beer, more original décor, and a higher standard of execution.

Had lunch here and was very dissapointed.

I love Belgium and "moules et frites". To be fair the mussels were good but the frites were just like any other pub chips (and you could count them on the fingers of one hand) which if you've ever been to Belgium you'll know are piled high and to die for. What marked this place out was the lousy service. We think they must have just lost our order, after asking where our food was (we're pretty patient diners) it turned up after about 50 minutes which is bad in anyones books. We won't be back, If you want good Belgian food go to Belgos Centraal

Visited this restaurant for lunch while out shopping and found it disappointing. The service was very slow infact our order seemed to have got lost as 3 or 4 tables in the near vicinity came in after us and received their orders first, the wait for the main course was 50 mins. The moules were good when they did arrive but the frits were not an authentic Belgian taste, just fat chip shop chips which was a shame as this is their national dish! Would go elsewhere for authentic Belgian food for example Belgo-Cenraal Covent Garden.

My wife and I visited Abbaye with a couple of friends and were very happy. The setting is great overlooking a park and the food is delicious, better than anything I've had in Belgium! It is reasonable value for what you get, all in all it's definitely shot to the top of our list of favorite Bromley restaurants.
