This place seems to have had mixed reviews and indeed my email enquiry regarding a high chair was duly ignored but nevertheless my son and 15 month-old daughter visited for lunch this Sunday and I have to say our experience was excellent. We arrived bang on on midday to a staff who were friendly and smiling and even had a highchair! My son's fishcake starter was hot and full of fish and my daughter enjoyed it to. The roast beef mains was excellent especially the vegetables which were exactly right and I have to go some to get my daughter to eat brocoli but she did, along with the Yorkshire pud, and carrots, and roasties - you get the picture. Also - homemade horseradish sauce - yum. Desserts were also delicious and well suited to the pretty cold drizzle. My rhubarb crumble was served with an lovely hot jug of creme englaise. Finally, the carbernet sauvignon we had with the mains was only 5.25 and smooth as anything. Although there is no view to compare with Aquasia at the Wyndham Hotel Chelsea Harbour, I know where I will be eating next time.

I've been here many times over the years, but our visit with a large group on Tuesday night was a dissapointment. Staff were not knowledgable, dishes were forgotten, and the meat in my main course was dry and over-cooked.

I have been the past 2 weekends and of the 8 dishes ordered (4 starters/mains) they all are worthy of high praise. The food deserves nothing less than a 10. i will be back again v soon.

We have just returned from one of the most disappointing Sunday lunches we've ever had. On the plus side the pub was buzzing and had a great atmosphere. And that's where the good points end. The service was unbelievably poor. We had to go and find a waitress in order to get some drinks, we waited over an hour for our first course and a further 45 minutes for our mains. After the main course, we waited over half an hour (as did the diners on the surrounding tables) in the vain hope of having our plates cleared and maybe even seeing the dessert menu - nobody ever came. In the end we had to go and ask for them to clear the table and bring us the bill (we'd given up on dessert and coffee). And as to the food, well it's a fairly unadventurous menu but still had the potential to please. Alas it failed to entirely. We shared two starters - a plate of antipasto and some mussels with chilli and coriander. The antipasto comprised some rather tired looking chorizo and palma ham, and an adequate slice of mozzarella. The mussels arrived in a very watery stock with too much chilli and no coriander. The mains fared slightly better in that the roast beef and salmon were deemed passable. The code and fishcakes however were cold. When we complained both dishes were replaced but without apology. When the slightly warmer plates arrived they were both disappointingly bland and in the case of the fishcakes, very heavy and extremely potato-laden. All in all I would never return to the pub.

Ate here lots of times since moving to the area and can't fault it at all. Staff are lovely and very attentive. Perfect for a lazy Sunday lunch. Don't know if I would pick this place for a night out as such, but as far as a few drinks or food is concerned it's excellent.

We went to this pub on a Sunday evening and found the food lovely: My boyfriend raved about the burger (as good as the best he has ever had) and the mussels were divine. The duck was well cooked. The sticky date pudding was wonderful, my only complaint was it was such a small size, for £5 you'd like something bigger.

Service was friendly and efficent and as a non smoker I found the non smoking area nice and smoke free (unlike the rest of the pub)

Gorgeous little gastro pub, will go again.

Myself and four friends hit the Lots road pub in aid of a birthday. The service was very good and the lagers were tasty. All the food was well cooked and delicious. I can't understand why Winston had such a problem with this pub??? I thought i provided excellent fair and the relaxing atmostphere required for a thursday evening....Will go back again

Running out of options on a late Sunday afternoon my boyfriend and I stumbled across this place. Initially we were a little put off by the surly Manager, the poor service and our luke warm food. when it eventually came out hot however and the Manager lightened up a little it was really good.

If this place could step up the service probably with the help of some new staff it would be the perfect spot. At least the chefs are getting it right.
