Water Margin

Decent and consistent. There's no ground broken here but it's always reliable. I've only had one bad dish in somewhere between twelve and fifteen visits (smoked chicked - it's sweet - yuck).

Soups are good as are either the salty pepper squid or eel. The roast duck is always delicious. There's a couple of (cooked) oyster dishes which are also very good. The aubergine in a clay pot is a great vegetable dish.

It's not terribly expensive - saying that I can't comment on the wine prices.

The waiting staff are generally okay - not much more than that.

It's generally pretty busy from 6pm until 9pm. I'd seriously recommend making a reservation for a table downstairs as upstairs is tatty and dingy. The khazi's decor could also use a serious make-over although hygene isn't a problem.

Like Alan, I've been coming here since I was a child! 30 years and counting :)

Other than the one time the manager embarassed me by telling my partner about how much I used to eat when I was still in a highchair (!) they have always been wonderful to me. XD

I used to nag my parents to take me and now my children nag me :)

Food always arrives quickly, it's always delicious, what more can you ask for?

Lamb with ginger and spring onions - OMG - Amazing!! Compliments to the chef! I went in to Water Margin over the weekend with friends who have been raving about it for months and was very impressed. The food was presented in a variety of funky ways and tasted incredible - I wanted to try everyone's food but didn't want to share my own!! The staff were nice, the restaurant was clean - I wasn't paying much attention to anything other than my plate! I was a bit disappointed with my 'luke-warm' coffee but the waiter was more than happy to change it for me.
