Agree with the comments this is a top restaurant 10/10 . The lunch at £5.50 for two courses is a bargain.

I love the Water Margin - great menu, great service. Everything I've tried I've enjoyed. Could be a tiny bit less salty but that's the Chinese way. Book a table downstairs if you can - the decor upstairs is a little tired.

The best Chinese food in London. Ever! The food is consistently excellent, the staff pleasant and the price fair. The restaurant is always full of Chinese people, which to me is an excellent indicator of authenticity. We often try other restaurants in the local area but always come back here.

If you’re going to London and enjoy fantastic food The Water Margin will make your day the chili salt and pepper squid, and soya chicken brings a smile to my face, great food fantastic service what more could you ask for.

Eating at the water margin is like finding a magical lamp, which makes you immortal. Everytime I go it is a life-changing experience that I never forget. The black bean sauce is unparalleled as one of the world's most delicious nectar's. When i look back on my life, I can say with confidence that eating at the water margin is the best experience I have ever had. talking to the staff is like connecting with spiritual beings. Praise be to the chef, peace.

I have been going to this restaurant for my entire life... i am 23 and half chinese, my family; (immediate and extended) have been going there for over 30 years. It is in my opinion the best chinese restaurant in London only rivalled by Mayflower in China Town.

I have been going to this restaurant since I was very young with perhaps every member of my family! (which is big) Everyone from the adults to my under ten cousins have loved this restuarant. It has a homely ambience; and the staff are extremely friendly. Being Vegetarian it is often difficult to find suitable food, Water Margin provides you with all your favourite dishes but just far more tastier. Highly recommended!

I have a Chinese Auntie and she introduced the Water Margin to our family when I was 7. I am now 37 (Eeeek!) and still eating there along with the rest of the family, I have introduced many people over the years and all who have been make it their No. 1 restaurant.

Been going for years, food is superb, hygiene is superb and staff are superb have tried many of the so called best Chinese restaurants in lOndon and nothing has come close.
