La Lanterna is a favourite of ours, its local and the food is stunning, my particular favourites are seafood risotto and the tiramasu. The waiters are very friendly and check throughout the meal that everything is alright. Its a lovely atmosphere, in the summer its great to sit outside in the courtyard and in the winter its lovely and cosy inside. Definately worth going to!

I went to La Lanterna despite some of the weak reviews I read on this site.

I ordered a Four Seasons pizza, and found it to be one of the best pizzas I've had in a long time. A proper Italian pizza with a perfect base and generous toppings cooked in a proper pizza oven. My companions were equally satisfied with their pizzas. The mixed salad we had was very tasty with really tasty avocados. The rose wine we chose was really great too.

The service was rapid, friendly and unobtrusive and the surprisingly large courtyard tucked between the tall buildings at the rear of the restaurant is a perfect spot for a sunny summer evening.

A group of 6 of us went last Christmas (2005) to this fabulous restaurant. Although there were lot of Christmas do's going on there, the service was very good, there are 3 parts to the place & we were actually in the main restaurant, which was buzzin as well. The food is very Italian and there is plenty of it. The menu is varied and full, if I have a complaint about the menu it's that there is too much to choose from. There is a open air part to eat in which I have just booked for a summer's evening out. As you can see I'm going back again as are my friends.

My only complaint is that there is not a 'non smoking' area.

We went to this restaurant without booking, for my boyfriend's bithday and we was very happy about everything.

The food was good, the atmosphere too and the staff looked us just to know if everything was okay.

I advice this restaurant which is not expensive, normal prices.

booked a table paid for in advance for valentines day after having been to this restaurant several times was disgusted by the attitude we were told our table would be upstairs away from the main restaurant with pianist so we asked to be sat in this part of the restaurant to be told "you should have said when booking" though i wasnt given the choice when booking so they sat us in main part but on a small used table in the far corner next to the door where the rubbish was stacked service was a joke i had to get up from the table and stop the waiters to be served food was not the usual standard all in all a case of pack em in and treat them bad we USED to use la lanterna at least once a month with friends and have done for the last 6 years they have just lost our custom.

Excellent choice for value and atmosphere. If you like Jazz there is an excellent pianist Friday evenings. Food was fabulous - try the Lobster risotto. We were a table of 8 and everyone enjoyed their choice of food and the portion sizes are not for the faint hearted.

Good food at moderate prices & a good wine list. Informal and nice staff. Watch out for the 55 yo Italian waiter. He will flirt outrageously with your girlfriend (in a nice cheeky way)!

Friday night last week was fantastic fun at La Lanterna. Food great (especially the Tiramisu), wine exceptional and the music, staff and atmosphere fantastic. Recommend this to anyone that wants something to rival the West End but not at those costs..

This restaurant is very good indeed, considering its moderate prices. The pizzas are particularly tasty and my husband, raised in Milan, confirms that the bases are as they should be - of proper thickness and texture. I warmly recommend this restaurant for a pleasant informal evening.

been there a couple of times, nothing special, large portions at reasonable prices...quite surprising to find a Stroganoff recipe on an Italian restaurant's menu...I suppose this is Italian food for non-italian people :), very average stuff. Sea food salad as starter came straight from the fridge and contained the most tasteless musseld ever, monk fish as a main was all right, if on on the very heavy side...too much cream which, again, is not such a typical ingredient in Italian cuisine.
