Cafe Mode

I've been there twice with a group of 9 colleagues, and once with a friend.
It's always been good fun, and good food, except once when Salmon was dry and overcooked a bit, but I offer excellent feedback from 8 colleagues of mine and myself. Pizzas, pastas and salads - we've tried pretty much all of hte menu between us.
The place is simple, unpretensious, very sensibly priced for Covent Garden, staff are friendly though sometimes you need to pull their sleeve when it's busy.
It's a very easy-going place, with a free spirit about it. Toilets could be better, I agree. But I guess it's a consequence of the carefree culture of the place ;o)))) Whatever!
I love the place, and am going again on 10th Feb with 7 girl friends!

Cafe Mode is a perfect place for lunch or dinner. The place does not pretend to be Italian as one person mentioned. It serves pasta but burgers too and the name of the place is not Italian. The staff are extremely friendly. I guess some people are never satisfied! I would recommend Cafe Mode to anyone.

Cafe Mode ain't posh so don't go expecting a groundbreaking Italian experience or a restaurant that has a major "wow" factor. It is basically a nice little cafe/bistro - something that London (especially Covent Garden) is desperately short of.
They do a nice range of pizzas, pastas, salads, burgers etc. Beers and wines are quaffable and the atmos is laid back. Best of all the prices are very reasonable.
If you are in town and you want somewhere to grab a bite to eat that is easy-going and reasonably priced then Cafe Mode is for you. The enduring support it receives from its regulars is testament to its consistent delivery of a pleasureable experience.

Six of us popped in for lunch today. All the others had been before but I can honestly say I was delighted with this choice. I had a huge burger for less than £6, and one of the best I've had in London. Everyone else was more than happy with their choices too; pizzas, a goat's cheese salad and spinach pasta were all delicious. Great, friendly service; an oasis of decent food and lovely atmosphere in this crazy corner of the capital.

Cafe Mode has been serving great food for a few years now. It doesn't pretend to be Italian, it is what it is. A melange of tastes and influences. Like London.
I don't think you could wish for a better place in central London. A welcome relief from the madness around Covent Garden, it does a great range of staples served by friendly and capable staff, it offers a much-needed alternative to the faceless, soulless chain restaurants which are tearing the heart out of the city.

Having been a regular at cafe mode for several years ,as i work in a nearby merchant bank, I am mystifyed by the latest reviews. I will continue to dine there as will all of my fellow escapees from work. As for one reviewers comment regarding the nationality of the staff, I would think the absence of this racist from the premesis should serve as further recommendation.

Someone at London Eating should evaluate the genuine nature of these reviews. This place is nowhere near the standard portrayed.

THIS PLACE PRETENDS TO BE ITALIAN BUT NONE OF THE STAFF SPEAK ITALIAN. I SHOULD KNOW BECAUSE I AM ITALIAN ; THE PASTA IS ALSO OVERCOOKED AND TASTELESS. THE TOILETS WERE VERY DIRTY.

Great food at the right price, seriously shocked when bill for 4 of us came to less than £40 quid with wine etc. Has a great buzzy atmosphere and the service is amazing without being intrusive

Yet another lovely evening at cafe mode, we dine there regularly and have found ourselves seated next to Charles Dance , Keira Knightly to name just a few of the theatre crowd. Cant recommend this lovely cosy place enough .
