Kanchans

My family and I eat at Kanchans a lot and I have to admit that their food is very good, one of the best in the area. We love their Dal Makhanwali and Butter Chicken. I was shocked to read the previous comments. The place is always heaving with customers on the weekends but we have always been treated well. The staff are always very professional and polite.

We have been to the Banqueting hall upstairs for functions and as usual the food and variety was amazing.

I recommend Kanchans to everyone. I has to be the best in Ilford!

There isn't a family birthday, anniversary or special occaision that isn't celebrated at Kanchans.

We went to Kanchans to celebrate our annniversary and I dont think I have been this disappointed with a meal for a long long time. To start of, the menu was misleading as the starter which in translation read grilled fish came onto the table reeking with oil and on querying was told that it is initially shallow fried!! Couldnt eat it.. Then the main course came along.. We had ordered one lamb and one chicken dish the meat was not seasoned and any flavour that may have been present was masked completely with .. you guessed more oil!!

We told the manager honestly what we thought of the food and he just defended saying that amount of oil was normal for the dish and wouldnt accept that it was not good. The food was pricey and certainly not value for money. And one more thing.. they refused to serve tap water ... that much for our environment!! We will definitely not be returning here again.

I dined at Kanchan's last night with my family and was very dissapointed with the whole experience.

First impressions of the venue are good, with pleasing decor and staff dressed in elaborate attire. However, the night we went there was a group of about 20 people on the tables behind who marred the experience significantly with their constant bumping into our chairs as they shuffled past and excessively loud behaviour, (inluding teenagers playing music loudly on their phones at the table beside us).

As it was a large group, we were prepared to overlook this but the night then continued its downward trend with the serivce of the staff, who simply didn't seem to be able to cater for the rest of the tables at the resturant, making it very hard to get their attention. Our main course order was mixed up with one dish arriving as a starter, (which took over an hour to arrive from ordering). Overall presentation of food is admittidly good, but the flavour of almost all dishes was distinclty lacking, with all but one bordering on the bland side. Prices are very steep, and certainly unjustified given the location of the resturant and the quality of the food served.

Our comments of extreemly slow service were met with a small, muted apology by a waiter but no discount or complimentary dish was offered to compensate.

And to top it all - a £105 bill for a 3 person meal, with a minimal amount of drinks. Definatly not worth considering for the future.

I ate at this restaurant for my birthday and had a very unpleasant experience. Staff were pacing up and down the restaurant whilst we were eating as though they were rushing to get rid of us! The menus and incidently the prices on the menu are difficult to read due to the print and gold coloured font. Food is quite good but well over-priced. Prices are higher than some West-End restaurants I have been to in Mayfair. I would not recommend this place and will not be returning! There are other Indian restaurants that are far better and friendlier in this area.

The decor is amazing, gold everywhere and probably the best looking restaurant in the area.

The food is expensive. Yes, I would go back. They also had live music when I went.

Great place to bring a date or for a special occasion.

I have been to Kanchans on several occasions. It's got good decor, staff mostly know their stuff. The food served in the resturant is a THOUSAND time better than the food they serve at large parties/wedding etc. It's over priced but overall it's one of the top places in the area.

bang bang kanchsn wt can i say this people r the best in gantshill i am camemy to celebrate my 13th b'day and it is hard to make a 13th yr old happy and there mates the food was wicked well worth for the money service everything came on time and went on time and the atmostphere even better if i could give 11 i would

I have eaten here on a number of occasions and the food is excellent, you wont be dissapointed. Staff are very friendly and the atmosphere is great. Overall highly recommended.

Had to respond to rave reviews.They charged west end prices for dire dishes.The waiter tried to make us order side dishes we did not want.Although the atmosphere can ok if there is live music I would avoid this place due to the poor service and dishes.

hi i came here for my brithday with my mates and the food was great the staff are wicked and the atmostphere is even better it reminds me of india plus it is well worth it for the money
