How disappointing!! With relatives over from abroad the Spencer Arms seemed the perfect setting with good food on offer. However, although the setting lived up to expectations the food and service certainly didn't. The food order was initially messed up and thankfully corrected before the food was delivered - or so we thought! A chicken burger turned into a beef burger and as for the sweet potato chips these looked something reheated from another day. Service in between courses was slow with food being left on the table far too long - not acceptable for a quiet Tuesday night! And finally the bill was wrong having been overcharged by over £20. Thankfully this was corrected and although feedback was provided the response of " no one else has complained" wasn't the response one would have expected. My relatives agreed that it had been an experience, sadly however not the one we had hoped for. Come on Spencer Arms you need to remember who your customer is and that good food and service Is a must today.

I had been looking forward to going to the newly refurbished Spencer Arms, but struggled to get a table until recently...it was not worth the wait! The customer experience was bad from the minute a sullen gentleman answered the phone and was very short with me while taking our reservation (like he was doing US a favour!)

When we got there we ordered our meals which were very average, and then waited for half an hour for our empty plates to be cleared in which time a big Christmas party descended.

Instead of asking us to order our desserts before the big table ordered, our waiter forgot and basically tried to convince us not to order. We wanted something to sweeten up the experience though and asked for creme brulees.

Twenty minutes later, the waiter came over and told us there were none left! So we settled the overpriced bill and got out of there as quickly as possible. Really disappointing!
