La Pizzeria Italiana

Ate here last Friday night after not having visited for a good few months. I'm glad to say that the food, service and atmosphere was as good as it has been for the 5 years I've been a customer of this Catford gem!

The house red wine was delicious and as the pizzas as delicious as ever, and there was a new, even friendlier pizza chef making them.

It's the little touches that make this place stand out. The owner always recgonises us even after months away and gives us a friendly hello. Complimentary olives and bread are on your table even before you sit down and are great to nibble on while deciding what to order. Very often we get a limoncello shot on the house at the end of our meal too.

The best bit of all though is that you won't break the bank here as the place is excellent value for money. If you haven't tried it, go! I you have, you'll surely agree with all the above!

I moved to Catford about a year ago and this has quickly become a regular haunt. I take everyone who visits me there. It's a true gem and is exactly what great local restaurants are supposed to be: delicious food at low prices; warm, friendly good-humoured staff; unpretentious casual atmosphere; and full of locals every night of the week. It's the best thing about Catford and easily beats most mid-range West End Italians on taste and price.

With reviews like those below, you go to a place like this expecting a good experience, but such is the subjective world of restaurant reviewing, you are always pleasantly surprised when it transpires.

Having moved to Catford recently, I was disappointed by the choice, or lack thereof, of restaurants available in the area. This place is fantastic, and after our first visit they are assured of us as regular patrons.

Fantastic specials, great pizza and despite it's modest appearance and surroundings very busy. With service, ambience and food like this it's little wonder. Fantastic value for money.

Wonderful food and deservedly busy, even on a Monday night. The pizza with aubergine, goats cheese and rocket was glorious and the prices are VERY reasonable.

Yeah, loved it. Catford doesn't exactly offer the best dining in Town, so La Pizzeria was a very welcome find. The Guvnor is kindness itself - friendly in the extreme, courteous and helpful. Very nice grub, too.

We have been going to the pizzeria for over 10 years and always have a fab evening. The owner even puts on a special for us from the old menu - what service!

The garlic bread is great as is penne maria - love the salads. Great local restaurant

As someone who has worked in restaurants for many years (and still does) I find La Pizzeria the perfect place to relax on a night off. The food is honest, fresh, tasty and great value. Whether you go for pizza made in front of your eyes, a pasta or one of their ever changing specials from the kitchen you will be rarely dissapointed. It took me six visits before I could restrain myself from a starter to leave room for a dessert, which comes from a fridge beside the entrance to tempt your eyes even before you sit down. They are as good as they look.

The owner and staff are extremely hospitable and have time for all customers, regulars or new. Marcio, who makes the pizzas, aswell as taking orders, delivering drinks and entertaining customers, greeted me on my second visit as a long lost brother. I felt like one of their best customers. He does this with everyone.

I have eaten better food, maybe even better pastas and pizzas, but for the price and atmosphere, this is one of the best value restaurants I have ever experienced and that is why I keep going back.

I think this is the best Italian restaurant I've ever been to. The fiood is smashing -especially when off the specials menu - and it is fantastic value for money. The service is friendly and to use an american phrase I once heard - it's a "great dining experience."

This amazing little restaurant is considered by most of the staff of Women's Health at University Hospital Lewisham (and other departments) as our local. They never fail to cater for our parties of eight, ten or more and always serve great pizzas and tasty 'specials of the day'. The wine list is good and they also serve excellent Italian beer. The atmosphere is friendly and the staff welcoming. Try it and you will have your own local!!!!!
