This has returned to what it should be - a fab local resturant which you can rely on. Charming service, good vibe and perfect comfort food. It had serious teething troubles when it opened but anyone (like me) who sadly fled , I'd urge you to give it another try.

A new chef and a great front of house team (Stephen when I was there) have made a big difference. Relaxed, unpretentious, good value.

I have eaten here many times and i had the best meals I have had for ages on saturday night, the whole place had a great busy about it. The service was secound to none! with out saying a word the waiter seemed to be there just at the right time for all our needs.

As for the food well the onino soup was full memories from my youth in france, i then had teh steak which was juicey and well rested, the chips were as crispy as you could get!!,

My friend started with the Poached pear Salad Very nice, crisp and a mild goats cheese which i love and i don;t like goats cheese, she then had the cod with a creamy and zesty risotto cod was cook to perfection,

dessert well i would have had them but went for the grilled pinapple and chilli very nice and my friend went for the crumble which i have never had with greengages.

All in all a very good time had by both of us and would recommend it to any one that enjoys there food with great service!

Having eaten here about 10 times since the opening week it's a shame to say that I have noticed the gradual decline in the standard of food. Service cannot be faulted and drinks are always good. However, the steak now seems to be of a much lower standard, greasy and tough. I recently had the salmon dish which was swimming in butter. Such a shame as I have recommended this restaurant to many friends who now, having been, wonder why I bothered.

It is a lovely bar to go to for a drink but I wouldn't bother going there for a meal.

I really dont know what all the fuss is about. This restaurant was very dissapointing. The menu lacked imagination and the food was just alright.

I have been to this friendly, local restaurant half a dozen times since it opened and always enjoyed good, friendly service and loved the food. Perfect restaurant to go to with friends and not too expensive.

After reading the latest reviews we decided to try this restaurant last night. Well I really don't know what restaurant these people went to because it was a disaster !

Lamb shank and soggy chips and undercooked pasta with the tiniest prawns we have ever seen ....you would expect this in a local pub - not an expensive place like this. Service was good and friendly, but the waitress is fighting a losing battle with sub standard food like this. In times like this you would think restaurateurs would sharpen up their act. This restaurant does not deserve our future custom.

The food we had last week was good, the main courses - steak and the lamb shank pappardelle were excellent. Good chips. Service was average overall but Theo deserves a special mention, for effort and good advice on wine. I think the problem with this restaurant is the layout. Why not rethink that raised area at the back, where you feel like you've been shunted off to Siberia?

After a great trip with friends to Australia we decided to brave the cold and head to the local Harrisons to talk about our time there.

We have friends who go for a cocktail after work regularly, and I dare say so regularly they are known well - so I'd expect when we went there, knowing how much money we put in the tills we'd get some nice service.

The service admittedly was nice enough, not in your face but quite forgettable too. Considering when the six of us got there, there were no more than another 10 people in the whole place, but for some reason it still took over 15 minutes to get our first drink.

The food? Well I guess the concept is good, but I'd never rave about it. A pint of prawns should be prawns you don't need tweezers to deal with. The fish dish was rubbery, and by the end of it when we all once wanted dessert, only two of us ventured forth.

The place filled up and two other friends were put up at the back much to their dismay, as they felt it cold and detached from the rest of the venue.

Let's not be too hard, it's not fine dining, it's just the pretence that they come across thinking 'they are all that'.

I just wish there was something failproof to eat at in Balham, sheesh, the folk locally have the money!

We really enjoyed this restaurant. Try the squid if it's still on the menu. Fantastic way to start the evening, followed by different (and v. tasty) "Lamb shank" paparedelle (pasta). My wife had in her words: "one of the best steaks, perfectly cooked and huge!!". I have now asked her to go on a diet. And if you enjoy a big, good value red wine, we tried one of the bottles from Rick Stein's range. This was recommended by the owner "Harrison" who was very friendly and clearly knew everything about the menu and wine list (so I should think!). Nice to see an owner there.

The night we went (Tuesday) the place was buzzing and we were lucky to get a table, so probably book in advance.

Have to say can't understand some of the reviews below which almost put us off (they all seem to be very similar lenght/writing- curious?! certainly annoying and slightly unhelpful). I'd say the best review/indicator of any restaurant is to go along and judge by how busy the place is. Harrison's is obviously doing well and I think it deserves to.

It's got a great atmosphere, really fun and attentive staff (led by the owner) and we can't wait to go back.

Had to find this site to vent my feelings about the terrible service and awful food at this restaurant last night.............everything was bad ! The soup was just warm, the fish was wet and slimy -undercooked and the burger was on a stale bun with limp salad. The steak was tough and inedible. Left before the desserts. When we complained they looked like we were making it up and got all upperty !

Never, ever again...........be warned!!!
