Dire!
Scallops cooked in the steak-frying pan. Tasted only of steak. No doubt others got fish-flavoured steaks.
Salt overload on everything. Yep, they even put sea salt atop the butter.

On a property hunt in Balham, my husband and I and my 2 year old daughter had lunch at Harrison's. Very friendly service though not pretentious. They were also very patient and helpful with my naughty little girl. We had minestrone, pork chops, roasted Hake and Affogato, all very nice though the Hake could be a little crispier. My husband was there a week ago with a friend and apparently they enjoyed very lovely rib eye steak and good service.
Very nice and relax place with excellent food and service. Will go back again.

My favourite place in Balham. I always believe in supporting local businesses and especially when they work as hard as this place does. Great food and service and always some different special event going on
We had a fab dinner on Tuesday night- keep up good work

I can't quite follow the tone of these new reviews that suddenly say something very different to what is well understood locally.
occasionally we all have to settle for meals at Harrisons, and to be fair it is marginally improved. The menu is simple, and they have tried to freshen it up somewhat but it is still fairly unambitious diner type fare.
the service remains the worst in Balham, and the only thing less likely than getting the bill in a timely fashion is being served hot food.
that said, it is a pretty decent bar for a drink.

I was in harrison's again last week for dinner and always had a great experience. Occassionally on busier nights there can be a little wait on food but even with that it's my favourite local restaurant in the clapham - balham area
My partner and i felt like a quieter dinner so asked to sit in the rasied area which as it was the begginning of the week meant we had it all to ourselves. Even though we were away from all the other customers we were still looked after wonderfully by a young polish waiter . I treated myself to a burger which was delicous as always (some coleslaw would have been great with it though) and my partner had the sea bream which they said was the best fish they have ever had! I'm not a fan of fish so i can't say...
Look forward to the next visit later in the month when i am told some new dishes will be on the menu!

Best breakfast in Balham! The eggs are always perfect, and they happily accommodate me slightly changing the meal (I find bearnaise sauces too rich, so have it on the side, and my husband hates to see food go to waste so he orders the full breakfast minus the beans and tomatoes). So many places act like small changes like that are going to be the downfall of society.
Except they don't have soya milk... I'm lactose intolerant, and although I will drink espresso in a pinch, I prefer cappuccinos.
One other thing I wish they'd do is put the families with young kids in one area and the childless in the other. I don't mind one or two, but after that they reach critical mass and the noise is unbearable.
I must admit, I've only eaten dinner there once soon after they opened. It was absolutely delicious. We haven't gone back because its so busy these days.
