Caldesi in Campagna

Caldesi in Campagna is located in Bray which is a small village that already has two restaurants with 3 Michelin stars. Caldesi is located off the village high street in a quiet residential area. It is a lovely restaurant, very bright, clean, simple but elegant. It was a last minute decision to dine there on a friday night and I was lucky to get a table. The service was impeccable -- very attentive and friendly. The food is heavenly and the home made pastas are much try. The prices are reasonable when you consider the atmosphere, service and quality of food. If dining in nearby towns such as Cookham or Malrow you would be hard pressed to find such high standards and yet you would probably be paying similar prices, therefore if you live nearby Bray, definitely go to Caldesi. It is well worth the visit even if you live in London. Bray is a beautiful village!

Three of us came here for lunch after giving up on trying to get a table at a more famous restaurant nearby, and we were very glad we did - it's hard to think of a more pleasant way of spending a spring afternoon. The restaurant is set in a handsome house slightly away from the centre of Bray, but 10 mins taxi ride from Maidenhead station, so an easy trip out from London.

We started with a glass of Franciacorte in the restaurant's pretty and peaceful walled garden, then moved inside to the nicely understated restaurant for lunch.

The set £25 lunch is something of a steal for food of this quality. Excellent rabbit ravioli, nicely cooked tagliata (steak), a lovely mediterranean stew of monkfish and shrimp, and excellent puddings including a very superior tiramisu. Our bill came to £70 a head, but we didn't stint on the wine, and it would be easy to spend quite a bit less and still have great lunch.

Service was excellent - friendly and knowledgeable, but more than happy to leave us to finish our wine and coffee back out in the garden afterwards.

The only mystery about this place is why there were so few people there for lunch on a sunny May Saturday. Go!!

I have been to the restaurant three times in 3 months, I really enjoy the true Italian atmosphere, family orientated, great service (warm welcome upon arrival) drinks at the bar. Fantastic staff (although true Italian, English is difficult)

The first time I had dinner in November with a group of approx 60 persons. We were threated as individual customers. The chef came over a number of times to check if everything. As I made comments about the excellent (tuscany) wine, I had been given a bottle free of charge! The second time was the evening before Christmas. Although most staff was already on their way to see the familia in Italy, the service and food was again excellent. We have been given again personal attention by , what it seemed like, everybody that worked that night. But that could have been because we were a group of three women. The last time was last week, and since my experience in the past, I brought very picky customers, who are chefs working together with other Michelin star restaurants. Even they were impressed with the great ambience, relaxed atmophere ang outstanding food and wines.

On average I payed £ 90 per head, which is absolute value for money. A perfect reaturant for customer meetings, family dinners or anniversary
