Mai Sushi

Best sushi that I ever had in the UK. The raw fish are so fresh and I could taste the delicious sweetness of the fish. The portion for sashimi is quite generous, you get a thick cut of it. I will definitely going back again. They have website showing menu and prices, the photo is exactly what they are serving. Don't go to Yo Sushi serving rubbish quality, go to Mai Sushi.

Mai Sushi is in my opinion the best place for sushi in london. It is so fresh and delicious and you don't have to pay an arm and a leg for it. At the same time it is not as cheap as other restaurants that serve sushi but the quality of what you get served is what makes it so reasonable.
It is a small restaurant which is often full with Japanese diners (a testament to the fact this restaurant serves beautiful Japanese food), single diners and my personal group of friends who are frequent this establishment. We often order 5-7 plates of 'crunchy tuna' in a sitting. You must try this is if you haven't already!
It is a very small restaurant so there is a slightly slower service in comparison to other London restaurants. However it is wonderful to dine in a restaurant in London where for once you do not have waiters hovering over your table waiting for you to leave so they can fit in their next group. You can actually take time to savour your food (which is put together with such care and precision)and enjoy the company at your table.
If you're looking for plush surroundings that creates a buzzing atmosphere often found in London restaurants then it's best not to go here. However if you want authentic and fresh Japanese food that never dissapoints then come here. I couldn't speak of it highly enough!

I have eaten in and had takeaway from MAI several times and every time it has been excellent. Whilst it is not very big, the compact size allows the sushi chefs to actually make up each order, rather than having prepared sushi sitting round for a while going stale.
The fish has always been fresh, the fried squid tentacles are delicious, the rice is nice and soft, and tends to be served at room temperature, not fridge-cold like many of the take-away sushi places popping up in London such as Samurai, Wasabi and Itsu.
The staff are friendly, and the menu is comprehensive whilst not being overly complex. The Chef Set menus are changed regularly, and whilst you will always have salmon and tuna the others all vary. The scollop nigiri and the alaska rolls are some of the best sushi I have ever eaten.
Recommended for all those who like real sushi, and not the mass-market stuff being churned out by others

The food is simply great. Some people might find the interior and atmosphere lacking but this is offset by the excellent food. The waiters are friendly and helpful too.

Have been there several times. Very modest surroundings but food beats expectations. The chef himself goes to the fish market every morning I am told and you can tell. Nothing like overpriced pseudo-sushi places that you can find plenty around. Sizzling teriyaki or soft-shell crab dishes are just spot on. Wafu beef melts as you eat it. Tempuras are piping hot, crisp, jucy and generous in size. Plenty of flavour. Service is very friendly. Do not expect much atmosphere as the place is relatively small. We normally stick to Japanese beer or sake while there so I have not tested the wine list yet. Top value for money.

I think the sushi is value for money and definitely tasty! My partner and I enjoy their sashimi and nigris but we loved the Chef Special (salmon, tuna & yellowtail roll). We tried their Jalapeno Yellowtail Sashimi which was nice but we have tasted better elsewhere. This place could do with some good decor but the service is excellent because of the lady (I'm assuming manager) was attentive and smiley. I would like to go again.
