I've been frequenting this fantastic restaurant for many years now and thought it about time to write a review.
Needless to say, the focal point of every restaurant should be the quality (and in some cases quantity) of the food. Sapporo does not disappoint in either category. The expansive menu features primarily Japanese (but also other Asian) dishes; from a multitude of different types of well-made sushi to the delicious deep fried tofu and vegetable tempura bento boxes. (N.B. The evening buffet at only £12-13 per head is ridiculously good value for money.)
As for the restaurant itself, the raised "traditional" Japanese seating area never fails to make me feel as if I have stepped into a land far away from London. It can also be noted that I cannot recall a time when any more than half of the tables in the restaurant have been empty; surely a good sign.
Catford has never been regarded as a culinary hotspot, but with a few more places like this around, there is no reason why the area couldn't re-invent itself! Who wants to open a Thai restaurant...?

I was looking forward to visiting this place after hearing great reviews. Sadly, we were highly disappointed. The sushi was awful, fried chicken wings were as dry as a desert and we were charged extra for "wastage". The crab salad was more coleslaw than salad, aromatic duck was definitely not duck. Service was quite poor and staff were Vietnamese not Japanese. Definatly not authentic but great place if you like rubbish and overpriced food.
