I am a huge fan of Ganapati. The food is always fresh, tasty and affordable and the service, in my opinion, is some of the best in the area. Always asking advice on what I should try, the staff are very accommodating and helpful.
I would recommend this to anybody and only wish that similar ventures would set up in Peckham Rye - I spend most of my time going out in East Dulwich!

I have eaten here on countless occasions as I only live a few streets away. The food is always fresh and beautifully prepared. I am not a fan of extremely greasy Indian food and this place does a wonderful line in fresh, interesting dishes. It is a delight to visit and I have forced many of my friends to sample the delights there too.
I do think that the service can be a little slow and off sometimes but for food this good and at these prices I am quite happy to take that in my stride.

I've meant to visit Ganapati for a while now having read the glowing reviews so on a Sunday evening two of us popped in on the off chance they might have a table. I'm sad to say as we walked in and before we could say hello the young waiter snapped "We have no space tonight" as he ushered us backwards to the door.
Bizarre lack of basic communication skills. If he'd been polite we would have been booking a table and returned but we'll stick with Tandoori Nights.

Ganapati never fails to disappoint. I've eaten there countless times and have never had a bad meal. The food is so fresh and beautifully spiced and you get none of the usual stodge and ghee soaked dishes that you usually get in Indian restaurants in England. The home made pickles are delicious and the menu is always changing so there's always something new to try. Plus, they do an amazing banana leaf thali, which has a little bit of everything on if you can't decide what to have! Definitely one of my favourite restaurants.

This is exactly how local restaurants should be. It's charming, individual, stylish, friendly with excellent South Indian food. I'm so glad we've got it & that it's busy.
The owner has obvious taste and has carefully researched the food on offer. This is more about authentic flavours than garish food colours & pre-conceived UK Indian food. It's also thankfully lacking in oil & ghee.
I had curried mussels here once as a starter & they were fantastic. Unfortunately, I've not seen them on the menu since. Get them back on!
The decor is cool & arty with images of Kerala (?) & simple timber bench seating. In summer you can sit out front or rear amongst the bamboos & banana trees.
It's reasonably priced so it's easy to pop out for a mid week treat without feeling guilty.
They do their own lovely pickles, which can be taken home in jars. I'm addicted to the garlic pickle & beetroot one is excellent too.
Try it. I'm sure you'll like it!
PS...No, I don't work for them!
