Taro is my local Japanese restaurant, so I've dined there often. I've never booked in advance and yet they always manage to find me & my party a table. The service is friendly, and the atmosphere relaxed.
As a dining experience it doesn't compare to the posher Japanese restaurants like Zuma, but as a place to frequent with family and friends it's perfect.
When in season they have a fabulously melting o toro sushi, but my favourite dishes are their unaju - the best I've ever tried, and their miso black cod. Taro 2 does a moreish baked miso aubergine, and in the summer their soba noodles hit the spot.
