What a beautiful restaurant, its so glam and had a really buzzing atmosphere when we were there, absolutely stunning food, really couldn't have asked for more with the service either. Its well worth a visit!

It's always a bad idea, in my book, to think that you're cool. it almost certainly means that you are not.
thus "contrived" is the best word to describe this place. you'll understand what i mean when you step in and see the crass, overdone decor, and attitude of certain of the staff members. i have never understood establishments that clearly market themselves at a narrow demographic, and pay little or no attention to those who do not "fit". the owners of rock n' rose need to understand that, as a matter of principle, restaurants are not designer clothing boutiques.
starters were decent, the squid was actually rather good. but main courses were tasteless. it is pricey for what you get.
didn't appreciate the waiter raising eyebrows in exasperation when i asked for the cheque. the place was pretty much empty so it's not like he was uber busy. or was it a contrived attempt at looking busy?? perhaps. won't bother going back to find out.

The restaurant is indeed glamorous and a pleasure for the eye but the food was mediocre with a price suggesting something a little more special. Having said that I only tried the lobster linguine and couldn't comment on the rest of the menu. The only other disappointment were the toilets which although clean enough, seemed to have been forgotten when the glamor was dished.

Rock & Rose is definitely Richmond's sexiest restaurant.
The decor is fantastic; glitzy and glamorous with a touch of Beckingham Palace. The place was really buzzing on a Friday night and has a good atmosphere. A great place for summer drinks/dining with an outdoor patio and garden area. A mixed crowd of diners generally between 25-40.
Cocktails are generally good and suitably priced and they even have decent beer on tap for the boys. The Rock & Rose Martini is reminiscent of the offerings at Dollar Grills & Martini's in Exmouth Market with a shot of champagne on the side.
One waiter was outstanding and the rest were pretty mediocre. It took a while to get anyone's attention unless the "hero" waiter was near your table.
Food was truly excellent. Starters of baby back ribs (melt in the mouth with a nice sticky sauce) and poached egg with asparagus & parmesan (light and yet perfectly balanced and tasty). Main course rump of lamb (perfectly cooked) and yet more ribs (although with homemade coleslaw and rustic fries). Beware the main course portion of ribs is enormous.
We are not big pudding fans so we stuck to two courses. Bill came in at £90 including service and three drinks each so all in all not too bad.
I will definitely be going again!

As a fellow Richmond restaurateur it is always difficult to find restaurants that surprise and excite, but my hat is definitely tilted to Rock and Rose,
The venue is sexy and fresh with a touch of burlesque.
The menu reminds me of a place I love in long island with a very Tex Mex feel menu executed perfectly. The rack of ribs were meaty succulent and generous in the portioning, my wife is coeliac and lactose intolerant and my other guest allergic to mustard (nightmare for any chef). but all was taken in its stride with many options available to them.
One had the surf and turf of rib eye and lobster and my wife the Thai style curry all presented very well. The starters of tuna and squid were all just as lovely.
the service was friendly but the food took quite some time to arrive. both for starters and mains.
The wine selection is ok with some good choices the chenin blanc highly recommended.
The only disappointment and it was a big disappointment, were that they have made the age old mistake of forgetting the toilets. Yes they are utilitarian and clean but you have lavished so much attention to detail everywhere else you expect to go downstairs to a boudoir and are confronted by some thing that looks like a public toilet.

I have been visiting this restaurant on a fairly frequent basis (every couple of months) as I live just a corner away from the restaurant. (normally the booking was under my partner's name not under mine therefore I might have "appeared" on the booking system as a new customer).
I have booked a table for 3 over the phone recently, for Sat night (18:30). When we got there it turned out that the booking was made for 8 person. Obviously I have NOT booked a table for 8 but for 3, and it's quite hard to believe that "three" can be misheard as "eight".
The staff had maintained their claim that I have made the booking for the wrong number, and continued pulling faces. (Customer is always right isn't?)
Eventually we got seated, and were asked to leave the table by 20:30. We have agreed to this and took the table. Around 19:50 we were just browsing through the dessert menu when we were approached by the waitress and asked to leave the table at 20:00. We refused, as the other waitress who seated us clearly said 20:30.
The manager then approached us with the same request, strongly (and without any apology) demanded us to leave by 20:00 - probably at this point I should have offered to leave without paying, and avoid further embarrassment in front of my guests as the dinner started to turn into a rather bitter experience. We refused again to leave, and stayed until 20:30 - hence "allowed" to finish our meals.
Needless to say I have plenty of other restaurant options in the Kew/Richmond neighbourhood to spend my hard earned cash, and will not be frequenting this restaurant in the future.

The management of Rock and Rose should pay attention to the latest reviews of their restaurant because they are all telling them that this once lovely haunt is very much on the slide. My partner and I have always loved Rock and Rose (mega portion of succulent ribs!) but the service has been going to the dogs lately. Our experience of the last year and a half is that you just can't get anyone to call you back!! It's absolutely ridiculous!! We've had about a dozen promises to call us back regarding gatherings we wanted to arrange in the past year or so and only ONE time have they got back. Every other time I've been forced to chase them. Maybe after another couple of days of keeping us waiting they might have finally called, but if someone says they will call me on a Wednesday then that's when I expect to be called. It's just so tardy and there is no excuse. I wonder if all of the (OLD) glowing reviews have gone to their heads. I know that our patience is staring to run out and when that happens we just will never go back. In my review I'm scoring them a zero on the basis of their appalling callback rate, which I put down to management, but that's what counts to me. Apologies to the serving staff, who I'd give a seven to.

17 of us just went to Rock and Rose to celebrate a birthday. It was fantastic. The food was extremely good, not up to 5* cuisine, but more than what you would expect. Ambience, top notch, service was great, the place was clean and we all had a fantastic time. Also the bill was not too much in my opinion, even though we were all drinking. Definitely would go back either for an intimate meal or another party. Definitely recommend this place.
