I live locally and have been a customer for many years of both the restaurant and takeaway service. I think Thailand used to be a decent place but has slipped a lot in the last couple of years. The reason it's still busy is that there are limited options for dining out in New Cross, despite this I don't think I'll be going there for a while after the last few so-so takeaways and disappointing restaurant visit.

The service was really poor, we had to ask for everything, ie. to order, to get a drink, the bill etc as we were often left unattended for ages. The glasses of water we asked for never came, the wine we first wanted was not available, one main course arrived and was not the one ordered and the spare rib starter despite looking nice and steaming hot had some ribs which were stone cold - the microwave had obviously not cooked them evenly from frozen.

I am not a fussy diner, but I think that unless you are buying one of their special lunch deals or such that it's quite expensive for the area and the food and service you get for that money. It's a shame and I hope they improve things.

Great restaurant at a bargain price. Some of the best Thai food I've had in London. Service can be a little shoddy (only through a lack of understanding though) but the quality of the food keeps me coming back.

Have eaten here over a dozen times now and would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone in the New Cross area. I'm a student at Goldsmiths and you can't beat the price or the quality. If you're looking for a quick, cheap, delicious take-away for lunch or dinner, the special menu is unbeatable. 4.45 for take-away or 3.95 eat-in for a starter and a main course and if you get the take-away, they always throw in a ton of prawn crackers too. Love the service and the atmosphere is lovely. Just all around great place to have a meal.

i can't believe some of the other comments, that say that the food and service are poor....i have been to this restaurant on very many occasions during the past ten years, i have always found it to be of a high standard when it come s to the food and the service is certainly nothing to complain about..

sometimes i believe that some people just like complaining and will search for anything to hark on about...they like being harsh critics

This is the most horrible restaurant I have ever had my dinner. They don't know how to behave with customer, food quality is very bad and not good at all. Atmosphere is very commercial. Only looks is good, everything else is very bad.

This thai restaurant is skanky and the service is appaling, all of the waitresses were not exactly fluent in english so it was very hard when ordering. If you order the happy hour menu (starter and main course for £3.95) and you order a glass of tap water, they will charge the tap water as 50p per head, and put it on your bill as "service charge". We went there for a second time and after the starters were done,it took jus over half an hour for our main course to arrive, the beef was still pink and the rawness of the meat could still be tasted,we ordered a dish which cost £10 but instead we were given something else which was only £6,we still paid for the imaginary £10 dish and didn\'t realise until we got home and checked the menu that what we ordered wasn't what we ate. If you order their tea,you will also be charged per head for head, even if you order one pot for two people,if you ask for another pot, they will just refill it with hot water but yet still charge you on your bill as if you ordered two pots,so your paying £3 for extra hot water. Would never go there again.

Some of the dishes are fantastic, some not so great but the prices are cheap, and let's be honest, there isn't anything to beat it in the area. They're friendly too.

The Lao food was excellent. The spices were done to perfection in everything we tried. Service was efficient. A great choice for Lao and less run of the mill Thai dishes this is a great choice.

If any restaurant can beat the 2 courses (seated before 7pm incl week ends) for £3.95 for quality and value I would be amazed!

Despite my previous review I have given in. I have tried all the other Thai restaurants in the area and this still provides the best food, particularly the Laos menu. It isn't as cosy as it was, but now has a pleasant uncluttered atmosphere and the service is very good. It's gone back to the top of my list
