With a group of friends I went to celebrate a special occasion at La Luna . Was told that in order to use my Tastecard I had to ring up before hand which I did do. Arrived and despite the resturant being pretty empty was seated right next to the front door. Within seconds of sitting down we were we rushed for we wanted to drink and before the drinks even arrived pestered further for what we wanted to eat. We all ordered and shorty after this some one who I assume was the manger came to the table complaining that we had to order 6 meals to be able to use the Tastecard... My friend explained we use it in other places and everything is usually fine but he carried on slightly raising his voice saying how am I meant to make profit ? Over and over! It was embarrassing. Feeling like we just wanted to leave we decided not spoil the special occasion and stayed ... I can only speak for my meal which was described to have prawns and clams in the pasta honestly there was not one prawn or clam to be seen ! I asked the manager and he said they are small look for them( he couldn't see them either).....I couldn't believe it .... I could go on and on usually I don't ever make complaints but I really think they took advantage of the fact that we were taste card users. Put quite simply if the resturant is not making a profit don't offer the Tastecard ! So disappointed....

This is my 1st following recommendations from friends in the area. This is an amazing following the closure of the brilliant Pizza Castello in Elephant and Castle. So having another pizzeria in the area is a great touch.

The Volanio pizza with fresh chilli was amazing. Although I found the starter portion of Gambas Prawns slightly too small for a starter. The service was very welcoming with the Italien charm. The waitress was forgetful on 2 occasions and had to rely on the other waiter to provide any requests I had.

Overall experience is amazing and would definately recommend coming back with my family and friends, especially since my time out there resembled very much to pizza castello.

La Luna is one of my favourite authentic Italian Restaurants, so today we thought we would pop in for their take on sunday lunch.

Although the food was super, there just wasn't enough of it, Half a sliced carrot, less than a whole potato cut into small chunks, a tiny bit of broccolli.

I cannot complain about the taste of the food, it was delicious, but do not count on a huge portion. (more like a childs portion).

Dissappointed for the first time ever at La Luna, and I did mention the portion size to the manager (when I finally got his attention), who said that this was their standard portion size for sunday lunch.

I'm afraid they have lost my custom, being met with such a fierce response, and will no longer recommend this place to anyone.

Their loss, not ours in thes recession hit days

a great local restaurant serving great food. A word of warning though...whilst their sunday roast tasted divine the portions are very small..infact I was tempted to pop it in a baguette and make it a sandwich.

If you're looking for a decent neighbourhood italian you could do a lot worse than La Luna.

Located on the glamorous Walworth Road, it may have plastic tablecloths and a slightly utilitarian feel but the food is delicious, good value and generously served.

Our party of four mixed between the regular menu and the specials board and were not disappointed - the wine of the month was also excellent (although the house wine was not!).

The staff were also charm personified. we will definitely be back xx

One day, it was my boyfriends birthday and I suggested taking him out for dinner.

We were fed up of the usual, (steak, chinese, indian, etc) and he suggested this quaint little restaurant called La Luna that we have walked past a hundred times without giving a second look. I am not a big fan of Italian food but as it was his birthday, I couldn't really argue. What an experience!!

We started with the Bruschetta (which I had never eaten before) and it was absolutely fab!! The garlic bread was simply to die for too.

Then I had the "lasagne al forno" which was the best lasagne I have eaten in my life! The cheese was in abundance, the mince flavoursome and the portion could feed two! I can never eat one in one sitting!! My boyfriend especially loves the tagliatelle.

The real treat is at the end of the evening when you reach the desert list. Oh.My.God!! I have to personally recommend the cheesecake which is a generous slice topped with single cream.. I can promise you that it is the best cheesecake you will EVER eat. In England anyway.

The prices are quite reasonable... if you chose the set menu, but beware that a bottle of wine and and a few other drinks can push the bill to nigh on £50!!

Truly a wonderful italian dining experience. I can't believe that this award winning restaurant has been on my doorstep and I have been walking past it for the last four years!! Not any more... thinking about it... I am going there for dinner tonight!!

I would also like to point out that the service is very very good and the decor welcoming. As an after thought. This is secondary as it is all about the food!
