Have eaten here twice now, and on both occasions ate exquisitely good food, served by lovely lovely people in very pleasant surroundings. It is very good value indeed, has a great wine list, and we will be back again. My compliments to the chef!

Had the pleasure of discovering this little gem on Saturday. The food was absolutely exquisite, the white rioja refreshing and fruity - it has to be the best tapas i have ever tasted....can't wait to go back.

Great evening here on Tuesday, warm atmosphere and lovely staff who very nicely did not rush our meal despite us lingering until we were one of the last people in the place! Delicious food and great wine well recomended. Would visit again.

Had an excellent lunch here the other day. I've passed by many times and its always seemed so packed! I see why now.

Really lovely atmosphere and lovely, fresh tasting food. Each dish we had was interesting and really packed with flavour.

We loved the courgette flowers, braised pig cheek with sherry, ham tortilla and a really nice roast beef dish-cant remember the cut of meat.

Lemon mousse and choc cake were simple but delicious.

This place really surprised me and i will defo be back. The waiters were fine for this type of place. In all, great!

Kingly St has just had very protracted facelift to turn from a grimy back alley of Regent St to a pedestrianised lane more in keeping with it's neighbour Carnaby St. It has always had several restaurants down it. In fact one of my firm favourites "Ramen Seto" which is fantastic value can be found there. There are also a few more upscale places along there as well. I had a few work bits to go through over lunch with a colleague so we decided to pop out and give "Dehesa" a go. I had frequently passed by and the hams in the window always looked enticing. The restaurant itself is quite small with seating in booths or up on shared tables. We were shown to a shared table but there was still plenty of room. I was a bit surprised no one took our coats there were certainly enough staff milling around.

Once settled we ordered a classic tapas 101 selection: cured meats, croquettes, fried chorizo, tortilla, pattatas bravas, bread and a couple of glasses of the house wine. The food was passable the croquettes were very nice but the meat was a bit insipid, the patatas were more like chips seasoned with parika and after a long wait a very poorly seasoned tortilla turned up. It really wasn't as good as I was expecting. I do worry that places that don't get this right will get into an awful mess with some of the more esoteric offerings on the menu. They need to cover off the classics before trying to be "El Bulli". It is a shame as the room itself is nice, the dark interior gives it a classy but cosy feel. The two guys next to us were well into their second bottle of wine when we left.

The service was a bit hit and miss our waiter was a bit unsure, he didn't know a lot about the house wine he served us and he called me mate at one point. Our bill camd to £44 which was OK I suppose but we hadn't had loads. I was hoping this could become a new tapas haunt but I think I will stick to my trusty "El Piratas de Tapas" in future. I still have reservations in general about eating in Soho. The restaurants tend to be small so you can imagine even smaller kitchens which will affect what they can get out.

This place was real favourite of mine but its gone a bit like a favourite pair of old jeans. As much as you want to love them and keep wearing them they just don’t make you feel good anymore. The food was ok, the place seemed a bit shabby and at the end of it we all wanted to go and try somewhere else. Personally, I think it needs a refurb and the kitchen needs to go and re-inspire itself because when it does it’ll no doubt feel like a favourite again.

all the food was very salty, portions were meagre, after having 8 or 9 dishes still left hungry, very expensive and rude staff will not be going back.

Had a lovely lunch here, Although it is a very small venue and we were asked to wait - not much room in the restaurant so we waited outside in the rain - not the best start! But once we got inside we were made very welcome. The staff knew the wine and food very well. The food came in good time.

The octopus was a little tasteless and the Ducks liver very sweet and mostly onion.

But apart from this had an exceptional meal - highly recommend the pigeon and the pork belly!

Desserts up to standard as well, rhubarb and panna cotta was beautiful, although my favourite was the apple fritattas with amaretto ice cream.

All in all for 5 hungry people having desserts and a bottle of wine came to about £25/head - very reasonable indeed. Will go back.

Not written a review here before (having read plenty) but felt compelled after today's meal. Went here for lunch today, £36 for two (no wine), service very efficient and friendly, decor simple but cosy, prices looked slightly pricey but portions are generous and food quality is top drawer, very original dishes too that wouldn't be found at other tapas places. Would certainly recommend and will definitely be going back.

The Graphic Foodie

The Graphic Foodie

Sunday, February 14, 2010 - I ordered duck livers with Manzanilla, Caramelised Onion, Raisins, Pine Nuts and Migas. I loved the sweetness of the dish but they were served very, very rare. Cooked a bit more for my liking and this would have been a great dish. What WAS a great dish was the Confit of Old Spot Pork Belly with Rosemary Scented Cannellini Beans. Crispy crackling and soft, sweet pork. And I'm totally stealing the idea of the rosemary scented beans too...A perfect place for a very late and long lunch.

The English Can Eat

The English Can Eat

Monday, June 15, 2009 - There were Spanish classics, tortilla and patatas fritas, but we went for Grilled English Asparagus with Egg Yolk Ravioli truffle and parmesan. The ravioli holding the egg yolk was clever and delicate. The truffle shavings were generously sprinkled and the asparagus young and spindly. The Salt Cod Croquetas with Romanesco sauce were good, crispy breadcrumbs on the outside, soft fish on the inside with a red pepper sauce...Dehesa does make you feel as if you are in Spain and it's also proof that even vegetarians will find plenty to eat at this place which specialises in charcuterie.
