I like this place. Simple, "St John" style menu with lots of good offal and meat choices. Great wine list. The place feels very relaxed and the bare brick interior is quite cool.
Nice ice cream. Waitresses are friendly. Will go back. Lovely job.

I have recently moved to Camden and was very keen to try this place out as I had read some favourable reviews in a few weekend newspaper supplements.
I was not disappointed! For the price the food and wine list is excellent. I had the mutton prosciutto (unusual but delicious) and figs to start, followed by the pork belly and a treacle sponge pudding for dessert. My boyfriend's dishes were also all excellent, in particular the onglet and chips. All were cooked and presented perfectly, and the service was friendly and efficient. The bill came to just under 100 pounds, including 3 courses for 2, wine and service at 12.5%. A bargain!

I have eaten around ten times in the last four months with more memorable dishes than anyone should wish to eat in a lifetime. OK, I have had the onglet (skirt steak for the uninitiated) more time than is fair --- but hey, at the end of a long working day I deserve it. Salt beef that Mr.Bloom of Whitechapel (alav hashalom) could only dream of , and other multiple variations of unfashionable cuts that would bring a glow to any butcher or carnivore. That said, fish is pretty brill as well --- wondrous hake comes to mind. And puddings, if I ever make it that far............... And before I forget, gazpacho............ devlilled kidkeys...... and raw red mullet that would make a sushi chef ho in for self abuse --- sushi style. I love it.. And the aloof lady???? No one I've ever met!

As the category implies, Modern European with a solid footing in British food. Dishes use classic and apparently good quality ingredients that are well prepared - nothing fancy. Things like pig's cheek, steaks, duck and oysters are matched with seasonal vegetables, mostly with a British focus. Value for money is good. Service was mixed as the wait staff was friendly but the owner/hostess came across slightly aloof if not arrogant - possibly the print media reviews went a little to her head, as they all overshot the mark on this good but basic place.
Would recommend if you are a local but not worth a long trip.

Just been for a work lunch here for the first time and it was superb. Being a fan of local English style grub this is a first for Camden. Luckily we work 100yards up the road and this will be a favourite.
Food was simple yet fantastic due to the great ingrediants. Wine was cheap and better than average for the price bracket.
I can only say good things. The Blackberry and Apple crumble was served in a School dinners style bowl. It was superb.
A great addition to the London dining scene.

Superb! A real find. Market is an honest restaurant serving food that is beautifully cooked, not pretentious and combines excellent service. The menu didn't have too many choices which I always feel is a good thing. Everything we ordered was well presented and tasted delicious. Though the menu is simple there are some interesting tastes to be tried. The red mullet starter with pepperanata was well considered and constructed. Deserts were a little too basic and it is here I would hope Market has the potential to improve. Saying that my jam sponge was lovely and delivered with a superb custard. The crumble was less lovely. The pricing is very good for the quality and service was excellent.
I would highly recommend this place!

Absolutely fantastic - my first meal at this place ticked all the boxes from friendly service to a nice bustling atmosphere to sensational steaks. The menu may be fairly short but everything on there seemed to be well executed - my starter of squid was perfectly cooked and the shared dessert of treacle tart added a true British finish to the meal. Our cheap to mid-priced wine was above average in taste and the naughty glasses of dessert wine proved to be exceptional. Will happily return - especially as I'm lucky enough to live at the end of the road - just hope I'll be able to get a table!

Strange place, Camden.
Hundreds of thousands visit it each weekend, yet it appears none of them want much more than a kebab or a foil tub of 'market food' to sustain them as they are pierced, tattooed and whatever else one does up at the lock.
For those of us who live in the area, this is not good enough.
Apart from a couple of decent gastropubs a fair walk away, and Hache on Inverness street, the place is a culinary no go area. And yes, I am aware of the Camden Brasserie, essentially an Angus Steakhouse for the middle classes.
So to see Market opening up on Parkway is something of a godsend. Why should the rest of London enjoy such places whilst we have to make do with poorer rations?
As is the new trad-British fashion, Market is spare of decor and menu. A handful of starters and mains give enough choice but suggest the emphasis is on quality.
Our Sunday lunch of gnocchi with jerusalem artichoke, and loin of pork were beautiful, both in execution and presentation. The potato cake accompanying the pork, layered with sage leaves, was a star in its own right.
And this with prices the local 'gastropubs' would struggle to compete with.
Service was very good, though the place was quiet and I would wonder what a full house might do to that. The wine list, a good mixture of old and new world is keenly priced, with I think the most expensive red at under forty quid.
My only regret is that this restaurant will become so popular I may struggle to get a table in future.
I hope this is the start of something great in Camden.

Excellent new Parisian-style bistro in North London. Starters range from oysters to devilled kidneys to whitebait. Main courses cover old English favourites (Pork belly, Chicken and Ham pie), succulent onglet or sustainable fishing stocks. Amiable service, interesting specials and quality cheap wine for less than £30 a head: what more can you ask for?
