I am a regular customer and am glad that Mario is back running La Pernella in the evenings. I came with my husband the other evening and we tried their new menu which I have to say was great, we had a few starters to share then lovely seafood pasta and my husband had A Veal dish which overall was great. We are so glad Mario is back and enjoyed our complimentary Limoncello.

Very impressed with this place! Service was very good (although it was very quiet when we first got there) food was lovely, pizzas were great quality. A really good meal, nice atmosphere and great value overall. I'll be visiting again!

Tried the set menu for Valentine's Day yesterday and were very disappointed. Out of the 8 dishes ordered I would only order 2 again. Opinion shared by people at next door table and those behind us, however other tables ordered from the usual menu and pleased by food.

Waiters great and no problems with serving fairly busy restaurant. Tried to speak to manager who turned out to be the chef who was loud and offensive in dealing with our coment and spoilt our whole evening. We won't go there again.

As long as you are not in a rush, this is a fantastic place. The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, if not always the speediest. The food is fantastic and excellent value as well. It is always a good sign when the pizzas are made in a proper brick oven, while you watch.

I went to the restaurant last night for dinner having been a regular customer a few years ago and thoroughly enjoying the food. I have also been there on numerous occasions for breakfast and the food has always been great. However last night was just the worst experience I have had in a restaurant. We arrived to a queue of people as they were showing the world cup and was happy to wait for a table. The place was fairly busy with take away orders and the football special deal (Not a problem for me!) We finally got a table after 20 mins wait and were seated in the main restaurant area. We got our drinks almost immediately but then waited 20 mins to order our starter (Only two waitresses) the garlic bread appeared after another 10 minutes & it was great. Due to our delay we ordered our mains 2 pizza's one without olives and myself picking one without gorgonzola as I have an allergy to blue cheese. We then waited another 20 minutes to be told the waitress had not written down our order!! We then re-ordered with the other waitress who apologised as the chef was confused & a bit busy!! Finally our pizzas arrived and yes you guessed it the pizza arrived with olives & mine with gorgonzola on. Whilst this was going on the couple on the next table had ordered a main meal of pasta dishes that were cold so had got up and walked out in disgrace. I explained to the waitress that the pizza's were wrong and she just shrugged her shoulders and left us sitting there. I then asked to speak to the manager who was the pizza chef who tried to explain the reason for the gorgonzola being on my choice of pizza was that it is always on there but it was not shown on the menu !! I tried to explain the danger of people with allergies (nut's etc) but he then started talking in italian which added insult !. He finally offered me a bottle of wine as a gesture!.

It's a great shame as this was one of my favourite local restaurants that appears to have gone down hill !!

What a horrible evening. We thought we would go out for dinner to spoli ourselves after a hard week. We should have got a take away and sat on the sofa!

Poor service. Staff who didn't really seem to know what they were doing

Not able to apply special offer as we got there too late (it was 20 mins between arriving and them saying we could have a table to actually sitting down - another 15 mins until we actually ordered)

Forgotton orders

Mistakes in orders (including blue cheese on my boyfriends pizza which he has serious allergy to)

Poor response to polite complaint made

Generally strange atmosphere due to lots of people complaining about how slow service was (and the people on the table next to us just walked out when their cold food arrived after such a long wait)

Won't be going there again - shame as the food that we did eat was really nice.
