I think the Chapel is getting better again and about time too. It was fantastic in its day about two years ago.

My wild boar was very overcooked but sauted potato accompaniment was excellent. The steak, however, was cooked rare to perfection. Maybe it was just a bad bit of boar!

The staff are a million times better than they used to be although there are some still slightly useless barmen (there seem to be different ones every time I go in!) that seem incapable of pouring a glass of wine.

However, there is a fantastic lady in charge now who is very helpful and forthcoming and even recognises regulars!

Onwards and upwards let's hope.

Great buzzy atmosphere. Food was simply wonderful and great value. An open chicken and bacon pie was followed by a delicious lamb stew with an innovative lentil risotto. All were superb and portions large - we couldnt ahve eatend essert if we had tried. Dinner for two for £40 with a nice Cote Du Rhone for £19.

Having lived in the area for three years I have always rated the Chapel highly both for food and drink. Though expensive, the quality of food has lived up to the price. However, this was until I went to the Chapel last Sunday night. The place was completely dead but the menu looked quite inspiring so we stayed. I ordered a lime and soda and a pint of bitter and the initial bill was over £6 – just for the two drinks. When we questioned the waitress she said that each bottle of soda costs £1.20 and she had used three then the lime cordial cost 30p. So actually the lime and soda was more expensive than the pint of bitter! £3.90 for a lime a soda is just ridiculous. We didn’t stay for food and we shall not be going back in the near future.

Having been on a number of occasions i'm a big fan of the Chapel.the food is fairly priced and of outstanding quality.the general atmosphere all the better for the music being so discreet.the mainly french staff (male and female) are a feast for the eye and strike me as nothing less than charming.

I have been a regular here for more years than I care to remember. The place is really friendly, especially since a recent change of manager, and the food is absolutely first class. My Red Snapper the other day was delicious. Well done chef! Very good wines too.
