The food was okay, but it was definitely overpriced. 3.60 for mediocre pakoras and dips is WAY too much, and the onion bhaji was unappealing as well. Mains were better, but drinks were expensive, and I definitely think you could do better elsewhere.

Went for this place based on reviews on Top Table - sadly the promise of its favourable reviews went undelivered. Both my friend's and my partners are pregnant and so 3 glasses of tap water were ordered, only to be told the restaurant does not serve tap water unless something is ordered from the drinks menu. Shock number 1. Fortunately I was gagging for a (£6 a bottle) beer so that potential fire was hastily snuffed out. Given that my friends are not overly familiar with Indian food, we ordered a decent amount of mains and sides and just a couple of starters to share; when the starters came and we asked for 2 more plates with which to share out the starter the waiter rudely jabbed his finger at the odd, uselessly undersized rectangular mini side plates and span away from the table. Shock number 2. Upon hearing us smirking in disbelief at this unusual behaviour the waiter returned with a mumbled offer of 2 other plates but the damage was done. Shock number 3 came as the mains had been bought out - I had ordered a lamb dish but was presented with a lamb bhuna and when I told the waiter it was not what I had ordered his reply was that it was "similar" to what I had ordered, apart from the fact that the lamb dish I had requested has ginger as an added ingredient. He promptly scurried off the kitchens and came back with a few shreds of raw ginger and flicked them on to the bhuna and announced that the dish was now the one I has aksed for. Unbelievable!

I've been eating curries for nigh on 30 years and should frankly have known better than to go to an Indian in tourist-central Covent Garden, but my friends are out-of-towners and thats where they'd been all day. Aside from the 3 issues above, fundamentally speaking the food was predictably middle of the road - very bland bhindi bhaji, unorthodox-tasting tarka dhall, not a lot of meat in the mains, hard chick peas in the chana masala, butter chicken more like a bowl of sweetened cats milk with a few lumps of sorry chicken in it, dry rice etc etc the list goes on. You get the picture.

To summarise this place I leave you with 4 words - DON'T BOTHER GOING INSIDE.

Very poor. Bog-standard high street dishes but not done as well. Lamb was tough as old boots and I nearly broke my knife trying to cut it. Other dishes were OK at best.

I had the 50% off food deal but they at first refused to include papadums into that and beer was very expensive at over £20 for 3 Cobras.

Place has very little going for it. I won't be coming back.
