Locale (Blackheath)

Upon booking this restaurant online for our 1st wedding anniversary I was asked of any additional information I wished them to know so I mentioned it was our first anniversary & my wife was pregnant thinking we might get some special treatment. How wrong could I be! Food was of average standard, service was quite poor. Was never even offered a refill of drinks. The only thing we did get was an apology on lack of service given. Couldn't work it out as restaurant was fairly quiet (Thursday 3rd Sept 7pm). Will not go there again, ruined our special day! Nor will I be recommending to anyone.

My fiancee and I booked the Olive Room at Blackheath Locale for our wedding reception at short notice, and were provided with superb service from the outset. We were provided with four options for the menu, all very reasonably priced. Although we ended up opting for the second cheapest option on the day, all our guests agreed that the food was of a quality that one would expect from a far more expensive restaurant. The staff were extremely accommodating, even to the point of rescuing a last minute wedding cake emergency.

My wife and I will be attending again for our anniversary meals, although we've vowed to return earlier to enjoy the superb food and excellent service.

My girlfriend and I attend locale on a spare of the moment celebration, although the place was very busy they sat us for drinks until they could accommodate us. The staff were exceptionally helpful and I must say I'd wait again for a table if it means I can enjoy more of there cocktails.

The food had good flavour and some nice unexpected options on the menu I was not disappointed and recommend the anti pasta. all in all for turning up a chance with a cheeky smile I had a great evening and will be return again very soon. Hopefully this time with a reservation. : )

My partner and I visited Locale (again) on the spur of the moment last Friday night. We were shown to a table and offered drinks straight away. We started with yummy cocktails, followed by bread and olives, the fattest, juiciest, greenest olives I have ever seen! Then we shared the leg of lamb and a bottle of Brunello and both were delicious. Our wine was decanted for us, and as our lamb came on a serving board not everything fitted nicely on our table for two. The waiting staff did not hesitate to move another table alongside to give us more space. Service was swift and very friendly throughout and they didn't mind giving us a bit of "digesting time" before taking our desert order. I can only imagine that the previous reviewers have been unlucky enough to encounter temporary summer staff when they describe problems with the service here. As we sipped our digestives we commented on how we always have such a nice time when we eat out at Locale. We will certainly be returning. For the forthcoming Winemaker's Dinner if not before!

Visited this restaurant for a friends b'day a party of 12......cocktails are great but the food wasn't good at all.

Starters were fine, not bad but the main came out cold and the mussels if you can call them that were shrivelled up and cold! 5 of us ordered this dish and no one ate it....the manager came over after waiting around 15 mins and generously offered us the ravioli dish which we all were happy with other than the comments that she offered....one being that we obviously don't know how to cook! Really......customer service is not one of their top priorities.....!

I will go back for the cocktails only......sorry but this place needs alot of customer service attention as well as the menu being looked at......

Oh yes we were also told to keep the noise down......we were a party of 12 and there we about 8 other customers in the whole place!

Have visited on a Sunday when half empty for an expensive meal but nice surroundings. Visited on a Saturday for cold meals with music blasting-out.

Refused to pay service charge with no apology or query as to why. Will not return.

Despite the friendly staff the service is very poor. We ordered a side of bread and olive oil with a side of courgettes with our main courses.

As per, we got the olive oil for the bread right after the order but then had to wait for the bread to arrive until halfway through our main course. Our mains came before the side order, lukewarm at best. The courgettes finally came baking hot, again half way through our main.

The restaurant was barely quarter full so this must be an issue with organisation and the kitchen.

We were a party of eight new mums on a rare night out together. I arrived first at the bar. Despite there being three people behind it, no-one seemed to want to take my order. I finally got the attention of one of the staff and ordered a g&t. I expected him to ask me which gin I wanted and whether I wanted a single or double. Nope, he jusy started to pour a double (of the most expensive of course) and I had to stop him mid flow to request a single shot of a different gin. Slightly annoyed I sat down at a table. A few minutes later, a different staff member walks over and asks me whether I would like a drink... Food was passable, wine sat on the bar for ages before it was brought over, the red wine was warm, the waitress didn't know what the ravioli filling was, we were charged different prices for the same cocktails.

Overall it was an expensive place with poor service and ok food. Pizza Express would have been better.

We celebrated my daughters 18th birthday with family and friends at Locale in Blackheath. The food was superb , the service was excellent and everyone at locale looking after us in the private dining area made sure that the afternoon was a great success. Thanks to all.
