Chicago Rib Shack

Absolute disappointment. Arrived at 2.15pm, were told we had to wait for half an hour, after constant reminding we were given a table at 4.30pm. This wasnt the end of the hopeless service, we sat and sat for another 20mins without having our order taken. One of us went and got the Asst Mngr in order to have our order taken. The food arrived after a loooong time. During all this, although we had three kids with us 5,7 and 8, the balloon making guy kept going past our table egnoring the kids. Again, one of the mothers had to ask to get him to come and do the job he is there to do. This was one of the longest and most terrible experiences we have ever had at a restaurant, the kids were tired and fed up, our guests had enough and we ended up embarrassed and sorry for having gone there. When we put our concern to the Manager all we got was that they really cant help it when the restaurant is busy. no proper apologies or even an offer of a discount what so ever. We spent £100 upstairs while waiting and £300 downstairs on food. I am so angry having wasted my sunday waiting for incompetent people in charge of a job so simple. I will definitely be taking my complaint further.

Really worth visiting. A friend and I went for an after-work dinner here last week and were thoroughly impressed with both the food and service. The atmosphere was perhaps a little quiet, but as we were dining some time before 6pm this hardly mattered. Overall, fantastic for food and a suitable restaurant for professionals and families alike.

Was there last night. Group of 11. Service from the staff that greet you and the waiters was very good. Problem with the food when one person had his food arrive 1 hour after everyone elses. Supervisor not prepared to do anything and did not handle it well.

The restaurant needs to seriously read all the comments that are posted on the internet and start making a change. I have been here many times, but everytime the experience has been nothing like the old Shack. Last night though was really shocking - purely because of attitude from chef and supervisor. It seems that they do not want to see their customers walk away happy. I pressume they rely alot on tourists that will probably not return therefore they are not bothered about what type of service they offer.

high proportion of families with young kids, deafening noise levels and a hefty bill mean I'll not be rushing back. service was fine, although takes a while to order, had ran out of most of the beers and the food was mediocre. popular with families and large groups but am betting this place, which was busy, is kept alive by tourists and out-of-towners.

If you like tasty, exciting food then stay away. We had heard good things about the Rib Shack but were very disappointed. Very little of the food had any taste at all. The ribs were meaty but bland, the chicken was dry and bland, the corn on the cob was just bland. Add sweet, watery coleslaw and a side order of taste-free macaroni cheese and it was all really disappointing. And at £30 a head for 2 courses without wine it is not even cheap and bland.

Very disappointing.

Went there last week 8/09, fan of the old place and hoping for a reprise.

First course, one quarter of iceberg lettuce with good blue cheese dressing, surprising very good,

Ribs for both us, very poor, had baby rack and st Louis ribs respectively- very disappointing, barbecue sauce was foul,

Onion loaf- the thing we most remembered from the old place was swimming in oil.

What a disappointment- nostalgia ain’t what it used to be, try the chilli ribs in harvesters or go to Tony Roma’s in the states, this was very poor.

OMG.....after reading the reviews below I am shocked! we love the ribshack, my girlfiend and I went there for independence weekend and had a great time.

yes it is not the old ribshack, but this one is awesome.

anyway regardless of the opinions of others...we will be back

This place is a flop! Nothing like it was back in the 90's.....

Overpriced, shockingly poor staff & service, under average food. Will not be returning.

Not good at all. Wings were sloppy... ribs were tasteless... However, we did get 1/2 off bill because they realized food was well below par. Never again for me.
