Mall Tavern has new life and a nice buzz to the place. I went back a twice last week (my last visit was a couple of months ago). The dreary orange canvasses on the bar walls have been replaced with contemporary stylish framed photographs. On Saturday night my wife and I were greeted by the friendly Georgie as we came into the busy bar.

In the restaurant, the tables have proper linen instead of cheap paper napkins. I had the chicken which was full of flavour and succulent. We wife, a veggie had the spinach and goats cheese risotto with parmesan shavings. It was rich and tasty, she loved it (but worried about her increasing waistline). She felt the food was well prensented, aesthetically pleasing and not fussy. The chocolate bronie and the coffee liquer sauce is to die for. The service was top notch and the convivial atmostphere adds to the dining experience. Compared to what else there is to offer in Notting Hill for the price and quality of food its worth it. For sure we will be coming back to savour other dishes on the menu.

I definitly recomend all and sundry to come here and share our fabulous gastronomic dining experience.

Went here with some friends this Saturday night and had a fabulous dining experience. Service, food and prices were spot on - the service was how it should e everywhere (!!), courses brought out at the right times and the food was exceptional. Have the desserts - they were amazing and i'm not a dessert person!!!

I would definitely recommend Mall Tavern - if you want to go for a nice dinner with friends and feel in a comfortable, relatively quiet ambience.

We had (i) Italian sausages and lentils / a cheesey mousse thing; followed by (ii) baked kingfish / baked cod, and ending with (iii) oatcakes (hurray) and cheese. We drank some reasonably priced prosecco. The food was delicious and the service both attentive and friendly. The outside area is also a plus during the brief English summer.

I dined as part of a group of five people at The Mall earlier this week. Whilst I found the food to be excellent - chestnut and mushroom risotto followed by breast of duck on a sweetcorn fritter with pomegranate sauce, rounded off with pear and apple crumble - unfortunately my overriding memory will be of the poor service I encountered. Afterwards I spoke with the owner/manager to express my delight with the food but raise my dismay at the service. Suffice to say, I don't think he particularly cared. When will restauranteurs recognise that service excellence is integral to the whole dining experience?

Went to the Mall Tavern the Sunday just gone, dont really know the area, but we went there because its the only Gastro Pub in Kensington. Our experiance consisted of; we walked through the bar area seeing there was a dining room, no one to welcome us so we just took a seat & hoped for the best. We got a menu not long after, which seemed quite small not offering some sort of roast on a Sunday. Looked like the menu changed on a day to day basis.Which is always good to see. We choose a white wine which was nice. The menu seemed to be bigger then the food menu.. we had some bread & olives to share, picking out the rotten ones & found quite a good flavour on the ones that looked ok, but my fiance and I had 6 oysters to share as a starter & thought quite poorly of them as I wouldnt have served them in my restaurant being as tiny inside as they were & getting bits of shell in your mouth wasnt exactly pleasant. I had a Tomato soup as a main & highly recommend it, Delicious! my fiance had Pork Belly & I had a taste, it was divine... tasted better then any other belly I had tasted before, being a chef himself he wishes we asked for the recipe, but if I was the chef I wouldnt be giving that one out in a hurry! for dessert we shared a crumble & again not many people no how to make a good crumble in London & the chef also had that down pat. We also tried the banana fritters and again fantastic.... not many places get the coffee right either...the waitress was good but not that attentive of what the customer really needed, eg. more bread for soup etc. highly recomended, we would go back for sure....

I recently went to the Mall Tavern to eat with my wife and the food was really good, When I asked if they had a new Chef they confirmed that they have a new Head Chef “Alex Silva” who just took over and we couldn't be happier, as it is our local.

The real Mall Tavern is back!!!!!!!!

Last night, my wife and I booked a table in the garden at the Mall Tavern. When we made the reservation we checked first to see whether the garden was just for diners or whether we would be sitting with customers buying drinks from the bar.

As regular customers, we had some summers ago, dined in the garden surrounded by noisy drunks and did not wish to repeat the experience.

The owner reassured us that the garden would be for diners only and we booked a table at 6.30pm.

When we arrived at our table at 6.40pm we were the only diners in the garden. All the other tables were taken by customers that were only drinking.

We asked the waitress before we sat down as we could just go to another local restaurant with tables outside.

The waitress assured us that the garden would be for diners only at 7.00pm.

7.00pm came and went, another table of diners arrived but the remaining tables were still only drinkers. Our starters came and I told the waitress, a different one, not to bring our main courses until the policy of 'diners only' had come into play.

Whilst we were eating our starters the owner arrived at our table (the same owner

that had taken our booking over the phone) and asked us what the problem was.

We explained that we had checked about the garden and would have gone somewhere else if we had been told the truth, even at the point at which we sat down at the table. The owner didn't seem to understand the point and started saying things like 'so do you expect me to tell all these people to go inside?' I tried to explain that the restaurant's policies were his business, we just wanted to know as customers what these policies were and not to be misled.

It was quite unpleasant especially as we were eating our starters at the time. Eventually he told the largest table, about eight people to go inside.

The food was very nice but the owner's attitude was disgraceful. We were regular customers of the Mall Tavern and have visited the restaurant dozens of times. I even had a private room at the restaurant for my 40th birthday and I think the bill was between £500-£600.

However, we will not be going there again and will be telling our friends (many of whom have dined at the restaurant) the treatment we received. It was quite appalling.
