Best steak in London, delicious, top michelin star dishes at reasonable prices. Pleasant quiet atmosphere and particularly nice to eat outside during the summer. Good wine, also reasonably priced.

I whole heartedly disagree with the negative comments I've seen here. Me and my girlfriend regularly visit the Mall and have always recieved fantastic service and are yet to have a bad meal.

Yesterday I ate an ingenious warm sald of potato and beetroot with some sort of sweet caper sauce that is still lingering on my palate today. and Steak Diane a true seventies classic that deserve a revival more than any other. My Girlfriend loves their daily changing fish specials which keep us coming back every week or so rather than eating the same old dishes week in week out.

The customers who slag off the service here must be going to another Mall tavern. Staff sometimes pushed but always friendly in my experience. Sometimes it may take a while for desserts to come but portions here are generous so it gives a little time to digest.

Please ignore the haters and keep up the fantastic work. In a west london world of overpriced and overated restaurants the Mall comes up trumps

The food here is very acceptable.

However, the service is badly let down by a member of the management who is unwisely jeopardising the future of this place by valuing profit over politeness and prudence.

This place cannot be reccommended if you wish to hear yourself or your dining companions speaking during your dinner. An ideal venue for the deaf!

I can't understand why this place gets negative reviews. I've eaten there twice and the food is great. The service was been a bit surly but apart from that I would definitely recommend it.

Having always been able to rely on this pub on many occasions friends in the past, unfortunately this is no longer the case. The barman was in a very bad mood and particularly curt and unhelpful, the waitresses were nice and the food ok, not as good as before and very expensive for what it was and then one of the group had her handbag stolen ,which apparently is becoming quite frequent in The Mall Tavern as other diners commented on this. Despite that nightmare, would I go back,? Having previously always liked the atmosphere and the food, I would not now, especially when they were charging £22.00 for a marrowbone meal and a very rude barman and the other staff other than the 2 female waitresses were not too bothered to make much effort generally.

I was surprised and disappointed to hear that the previous owners of the Mall were selling. I went there last weekend for the first time since the new owners took over in November. Having seen what the previous owners had made of a previously rundown local, I was willing to give the new ones the benefit and reserve judgement until I tried, though I didn't like the look while the refurbishment was taking place or the sound of what they had planned. Still the proof of the pudding is in the eating as they say. I can't say I or any of those with me will be going back in a hurry.

The Mall appeared to be plagued by a succession of bad waiting staff throughout its previous incarnation but at least you knew that when you did get your order it would be value for money. Sadly this is no longer the case. The waiting staff are still as inadequate as ever but, on top of this, they are now rude and surly. Mind you, I don't think I'd have a smile on my face or be in any hurry if I was the one having to serve clients cold, small portions at inappropriately high prices.

Added to that, the new decor is kitschy and gives the place a cold and dated atmosphere.

A great shame because it was a little gem in a part of Notting Hill/Kensington not awash with choice.

Friendly service. Food perfectly ok, though not dazzling. Portions very small indeed, so a bit disappointing. But it's a nice atmosphere to sit and catch up with friends.

Until about 6 weeks ago you could rely on 3 things at the Mall: the food would be excellent, the menus would change regularly and the service would be awful. Well, the last point is still true. The new owners haven't changed the menu since they arrived and the healthy portions of before have been replaced by cold places and meagre sevings that wouldn't be out of place in Oliver Twist. The quality of the food is still pretty good but for those of us who go there regularly it's a bit much to a) never change the menu and b) charge the same prices as before for severely reduced portions.

Mall Tavern has new life and a nice buzz to the place. I went back a twice last week (my last visit was a couple of months ago). The dreary orange canvasses on the bar walls have been replaced with contemporary stylish framed photographs. On Saturday night my wife and I were greeted by the friendly Georgie as we came into the busy bar.

In the restaurant, the tables have proper linen instead of cheap paper napkins. I had the chicken which was full of flavour and succulent. We wife, a veggie had the spinach and goats cheese risotto with parmesan shavings. It was rich and tasty, she loved it (but worried about her increasing waistline). She felt the food was well prensented, aesthetically pleasing and not fussy. The chocolate bronie and the coffee liquer sauce is to die for. The service was top notch and the convivial atmostphere adds to the dining experience. Compared to what else there is to offer in Notting Hill for the price and quality of food its worth it. For sure we will be coming back to savour other dishes on the menu.

I definitly recomend all and sundry to come here and share our fabulous gastronomic dining experience.
