Cafe Apogee

I have often visited The Apogee for a coffee/cake prior to going to the cinema. It's usually been quite busy but with reasonably friendly service. However, my visit yesterday was the first for quite a while, and I was sadly disappointed. Despite there being very few customers I was seated next to the front door, where I got an icy breeze everytime someone looked in. My friend and I asked if we could move further inside, but were told that the back area was for people who wanted to eat. In the past, I've always been able to sit in that area and on this occasion it was completely empty; but the reason given was that it can fill up very quickly. Nonetheless, when we left half-an-hour later it was still mostly empty.

Later that evening, we again found ourselves in a draughty spot, but in a much more crowded establishment. But this time the service was impeccable...no problem, we were allowed to move to a table from which someone else was just moving. That's the way it should be.

I see from other reviews here that the eating experience has been positively rated, but maybe the Apogee needs to decide if it is a restaurant or a cafe, because it's not doing a good job at the latter. Either that, or get a double-door entry system so that people in the front area aren't going to be frozen by wintry winds.

If you are going to see a film in Leicester Square this is the place to stop for a bite breakfast, lunch and dinner. Fantastic service, lovely decor, amazing food, especially the grilled meats. Also nice selection of desserts and drinks. The Apogee is the only place one can escape the processed chain food in Leicester Square and at more reasonable prices! Thank you Apogee.

Went there for Valentines day today and the food, service, value and atmosphere were amazing. Would recommend to couples / families or groups...wonderful choice of starters and main meals with friendly staff and very quick and efficient service.

A really lovely restaurant in Leicester Square which is basically full of low standard chain food type places. We had the best BBQed meat dishes and the mixed platters are amazing! Everything, drinks, food, desserts and price fantastic!!! Best place to visit if you are going to the West End.
