We visited Tamnag with friends living in the area on a Friday night, a group of seven. The atmosphere was fairly busy and lively, as you'd expect from on a Friday night. Unfortunately the service was almost non existant (with an honourable mention for one chap, I think the head waiter, who walked around being freindly and amusing all evening!).

Starters (or those that arrived) on the whole were tasty, including my girlfriend's fishcakes which we at one point thought had turned out to be unexpeted fortune fishcakes before realising it was white plastic wrapping and not mystic musings she was chewing on.

Sadly the main courses didn't match up to this auspicious start. A few of our group's courses weren't too bad. However, our waiter (perhaps due to language difficulties) had taken down a some of our orders incorrectly and one was completely forgotten. We politley sent back the incorrect meals (sweet & sour pork given and not chicken, sizzling chilli beef instead of beef in black bean) and they returned within 5 minutes. Unfortunately, whether in an issue to cut costs or due to them taking zero pride in what they send out for customers when busy, the sweet & sour chicken came back still tasting of pork and my new beef dish turned out to be the originally served one put on a different plate with black bean sauce poured over it! Rank.

We all left for the pub with smiles on our faces having had an amusing, slightly surreal, but ultimately poor dining experience vowing never to return. However, it was cheap and perhaps food and service would have been better on a quieter evening (though the comments below appear to suggest not).

I had read a few reviews before going to Tamnag Thai and was sure that it'll be a pleasant meal. Especially as a friend had recommended it to us. Well I was sure to be proven wrong.

My boyfriend took me to this place and everything was bad. My table was dirty and had to ask for it to be cleaned. The food was bland and without taste. Our prawn tempura came without any seasoning to it. The main course of crispy duck was just as dissapointing. The atmosphere was non-existent. In the end, we just wanted to get out of there.

Definitely will not be going back.

Me and my partner visited Tamnag last year as we sometimes go here as we love the food, but on this one occassion we were very dissappointed as we were sat at a table at the back of the restaurant, ordered our starters and wine, this came after about 15 mins, we then waited another half hour for our main meal and asked the waiter how much longer it would be and he said not long after which time we waited another 20 minutes! We thought this was just not acceptable so when we were kept waiting after that we just got up and left the restaurant without paying as we were so disgusted. Its a shame as I really like this place but sometimes the service leaves much to be desired even though the food is great.

i used to love this place but I think when a restaurant peaks with popularity, they take their cutomers for granted. Despite the fact we have been there so many times and last night was certainly going to be the last, we were put at the back of the restaurant, served flat diet coke three times over much to the annoyance of the staff and then they served the wrong dish and it just wasn't good at all. Am going to write them personally, that's how annoyed I am at them

This restaurant has a great atmosphere and wonderful quality food. I don't recognise what some previous reviewers are on about because I visited this restaurant recently ,and several other times now, and always had good service and great food. I find the atmosphere really good with the authentic Thai furniture and all the colourful paper umbrellas on the ceiling. The restaurant is quite large which means that there is a sense of space and you are not all crammed into a small shop and the cooking is done in open view of some of the tables so you can see what is going on and have confidence in the quality. The menu is really comprehensive and attractively presented and very reasonably priced ,especially for some of the more expensive items like whole sea bass at less than £13. The wine list is also really good , varied and well explained and good value with several available by the glass. They've even got a sheltered outdoor area for smokers who can't manage an evening without which most restaurants don't have. All the staff seem to be Thai and when I have been there they have all been very helpful and attentive.

I will definitely go again.

I wish I'd read this website before we went to Tamnag last night. I wouldn't of gone. It was awful it spoilt my brothers birthday dinner by being rude staff, poor food, and they tried to say wed bought 8 bottles of wine when wed had 6. Wev'e been living in Crystal Palce for a year and always been meaning to go to Tamnag but we should of stuck to the otehr Thai down the street which is much better. The manageress couldnt' of been more rude and the waiter should go to waiter school and learn what a waiter is suppposed to do. I didnt want to complain at the time and ambaress my Mum and Dad but when I rang them this morning they hung up on me.

I love Thai food, having lived in Thailand for 5 years. I love good service. I love good value. I love to eat in a restaurant with good atmosphere. Sadly Tamnag disappointed last night on all counts. The food could have come from the el cheapo freezer cabinet in Tesco, except it cost 10 times more than it was worth, the service suggested that the staff were competing to see how rude they could be to punters, and the atmosphere was angry, with quite a few customers complaining about various things - it didn't bode well that the next table were complaining about the "rubbish" duck curry while we were placing our order. We had to wait 25 minutes for our (booked) table, they tried to add two desserts we didn't have to our bill, and when I complained to the manageress she said, and I quote "Well leave then." This travesty of a restaurant doesn't deserve to be open.

I was introduced to Tamnag by friends a few years ago and have been there many many times. I found the food and atmosphere amazing!!! I do agree with some of the other reviews where they said the dining time is set for you and not being able to enjoy the meal at your own leisure. I personally think they try to cram as many people in one night as possible, I could understand if they said you would need to be finished by a certain time if you did not make a reservation but for those who do go out their way to make a reservation I think that's just rude. I do hope Tamnag Thai take to time to read these reviews, take note and shape up on their customer service skills. I have a feeling this maybe wishful thinking. On a positive note the food is to die for!!!

We went to Tamnag the night before last, and were treated like dirt, absolute dirt. We had a table booked but it wasn't ready. So we stood at the bar and had a beer, thinking it'd just be a few minutes. After 20 minutes we asked if our table was ready, but the manager walked off, and she didn't come back. Meanwhile, people who'd arrived without booking were seated after a wait of only 3 minutes. I complained to the manager after another 10 minutes, and she told us we hadn't booked a table. I had already seen the book, with my name on it, when we arrived, so I walked over to the front desk and pointed to my name. She told me that was someone else. So I said "Who?" and she pointed to one of the people who'd arrived wthout booking and had been seated quickly. I told her it wasn't, and as I'd already introduced myself when we arrived, and she'd acknowledged then who I was, she'd obviously made some sort of mistake. She walked off again. I went back to the bar, paid for the 4 beers we'd had, and we left. Just down the road is a place called Il Ponte, where we arrived without booking, were sat immediately, depsite the place being quite busy, and had a lovely meal.

I called Tamnag this morning to register my disapproval, and was hung up on. Twice.
