Never used Tamnag before, despite being in the area a couple of years.

Ordered a delivery last night, starters and curry for two people, they say it will be delivered in 30 minutes. I ring them 50 minutes later, they say it's been delivered. I tell them it hasn't, they say "Are you sure?". Then before I can answer, the guy says "Right, I'm busy, I'll pass you on to one of my colleagues". The line goes dead; not just on hold, but dead. I hang up, and ring back, the same guy answers and now says the delivery guy has just got back, our order was definitely delivered. I ask him what address it went to and how it was paid for (I had cash ready), he says that's confidential information! Then, while we're talking, there's a knock at the door, and it's a guy with the delivery. I ask him to talk to his manager, and tell him what's going on, he refuses, says "You need to pay". So I check the bag, and it's all there, but absolutely stone cold. I tell the manager this and he says "You not have microwave?". I also ask him about the 'previous' delivery guy who claims it was delivered, and he pretends not to understand me. I'm tempted to use some of my Thai on him, I do have a smattering, but instead I decide life's too short to argue with this guy so I hang up on him. I pay the delivery guy precisely the right amount in cash, and off he goes into the night. The stuff all goes into the oven to be heated up. The green fish curry, and the red pork curry are just about edible, but everything else is incredibly poor, like it came out of tins from Lidl. I am so NOT impressed, and won't be using them again.

And in case you're wondering, I spent some years working in Thailand, so I know - and usually love - my Thai food!

I took my girlfriend there last night and only for the fact she hates to make a scene we'd have walked out after 10 minutes. The table smelled funny and the waiter was off hand and the beer was in hot glasses must have been straight out of the dishwasher and made the beer warm. The mains took ages to come and mine was just about OK but her lamb curry was minging it tasted of nothing but curry powder. We decided not to have a dessert and we payed the exact amount in cash and left. So not going there again!

Unlike the person below I wish id read the reviews before I went to Tamnag!!! I thought the food was very boring indeed, it was like some stuff you'd buy in Tescos! It eitehr had no taste at all or it tasted of cheap chilli sauce. The waiter was all surly and uninterested, he seemed to think he was doing us a massive favour by even noticing we were there, and he managed to get part of the order wrong too. I'd nearly finished my starter before my mate get his, and the mains came out in dribs and drabs too. We're not going to go there again!!!!!

Bit surprised by these reviews. To be honest, if we read these reviews we wouldn't have gone!! The service was faultless and v friendly. We also didn't get charged for things we didn't order. We had the Thai platter for starters which was a great way of trying a lot of their starters. It was served with 4 dips and was gorgeous. My main was ok but not bowled over. Rice was lovely and my fiance loved his main. Good meal at a good price. Hoping it wasn't a one off after seeing these reviews but will go back again and let u know ;-)

A sticky table, a rude waiter, the wrong starters, dull mains, warm beer, and a dessert we never ordered appearing on the bill. Ain't going back there again!

I regularly get take-away from here and have had no problems so decided to actually go out for dinner to Tamnag Thai. Arrived at 7.30pm on a Sunday night with no reservation and had to wait 10 mins for a table - not bad considering the place was very busy. Food was fantastic - extensive varied menu. Staff were friendly (despite the place being busy)

Very good evening out and I am sorry to hear that other people have had bad experiences here.

Me and my girlfriend went there on last night and it was not very good. The food was like something I'd make and I can't cook!!! Lamb curry that tasted like cheap ready meal and fish cakes that was all like rubbery. The staff was uninterested and real slow. They even put two bottles beer in the bill we didn't have! Not going there again.

I wish I had found this site before going to Tamnag last night. I've now seen how many terrible reviews it gets, and I have to say I agree wholeheartedly. It's not just the worst Thai restaurant I've ever been in, it's the worst restaurant of any kind. The food is bad, the service is bad, the hygiene is bad, and the way the manager deals with complaints, by telling you you're wrong, is just awful.

Outstanding food, quick service and lovely atmosphere. I had heard bad reviews, but as I am such a fan of Thai food I though I would give it a go, well worth it. Fresh lovely and well cooked food, definite recommend.

I was in the area last night and decided to try this restaurant. Just shocking!!!! Was told to wait for a table about 15 minutes when the restaurant was not busy at all. The food was the worst I have ever tried in a Thai Restaurant, not to mention the service, even worse. I WILL NEVER COME BACK TO THIS RESTAURANT AGAIN.

If you want to eat very good Thai please try the Blue Elephant and Mango Tree you will not be disappointed.
