This restaurant is fantastic, used to go there every Friday night, unfortunately moved out of the area so unable to go as much as we used to. My husband says the Spicy chilli Pork is his last meal request before the gallows. He misses it and when we do make it there we always order extra for our freezer. We love it and would recommend it over and over again, even for take away, if we could get the take away we would.

After reading all the hype about this place, I finally arranged to have a meal there with friends last night (undertaking the 1.5 hour journey to get there from my work!). Admittedly, I was quite disappointed with the food (perhaps I had too high an expectation). The vege Pad Thai was quite bland and I had to add salt to the dish (which I have never had to do before in a Thai restaurant!). My fiance's Green Curry was average but nothing to rave about and DEFINATELY not worth going out of your way for. Sadly, not the gem that so many Londoners have seemed to vouch for on this site...

Had lunch here on a rainy Monday, but the restaurant cheered me up to no end! They had lunchtime specials, which were very good. They were also happy to offer us more vegetarian starters than there were on the menu. I had the pad thai and my friend had the vegetable green curry. I'm not in this area that often, or else I'd eat there all the time!

In response to a recent review complaining about the standard of the take away service from this restaurant, I feel I must defend it. I don’t doubt for a moment the sincerity of your correspondent’s view, after all we have all been to restaurants that other people have raved about and found ourselves disappointed on the night. However, I have been living close to and using the take away service at this fine Thai eatery for many years and I would contend, as someone who has been in Thailand many times, that this is one of the best Thai restaurants in London. Long may it flourish.

People who know their Thai go here.

The food is as good as I've tasted anywhere in Thailand despite the atmosphere being pretty standard.

It's a little gem that you shouldn't tell too many people about.

Food was average (a bit mean for the materials), but the take-away service is awful. First of all, they would not pick up any phone calls from a mobile phone - a bit doggy. Then they claimed the food should be ready in half an hour, and turned out to be over an hour. Then when you think your delicious finally arrived at your door after a long wait, you find out some of your food wasn't what you ordered. This restautant, I would say: never gain!

Absolutely delicious food. Have now been there twice, food is so good, service is nice and it is a real find. Can't wait to go back

My favourite Thai restaurant in London. Stupidly decided to try another Thai restaurant in Covent Garden for Valentine's Day this year and was sorely disappointed - the food just wasn't up to Som Tam's excellent standards.

Som Tam food actually tastes like Thai food in Thailand

Almost a religious experience. The food Som Tam produce, is food I judge all other Thai restaurants by. It is cooked with love, served with grace and priced in reality.

I love this little restaurant, I actively take as many new people there as possible, especially if they are new to Thai food. Makes me hungry just writing about it.
