Pu's Brasserie

Attended at this restaurant on 25th February 2011 having read the reviews of the good food and the friendly service. Sadly neither appeared to be in abundance on the day. We received an incorrect drinks order, which was similar to another poster's experince removed without apology. Also the Thai Green Curry was very watery and service was rushed despite the fact that the restaurant was barely 1/3 full - sorry but can't envisage a return visit.

I have frequently enjoyed this little restaurant's good food, friendly service and convenient location.

However, I was disturbed to find that they erroneously added a second bottle of wine to the bill for my recent dinner with three friends. They removed it when I pointed it out (without an apology), and it may well have been just an honest mistake. We didn't leave any tip as a result. I may give them another chance, but will inspect the bill extra carefully.

(This is just a reminder that we must always check our restaurant bills. Too many people just look at the bottom line, and quite a few restaurants seem to take advantage of this, especially for groups and with regard to the number of wine bottles.)

We went there with a friend for dinner. We ordered Set Menu A 21per head. It is not a cheap place definitely but overall experience was very satisfying.

Starter platter was good. We enjoyed it. Then mains came. Green curry, pad thai, fried prawns, boiled rice and vegetables. Rice and vegetables were ok. Green curry was disappointing. It was very bland compared to other green curries I had. However, Pad thai with pork and prawns were great. We were really stuffed at the end of the evening. That was enough food.

I will definitely go there for pad thai and prawns.

I have taken friends here too many times to remember! And all those friends have been very happy with the food and the ambience. The service is always first-rate. I have held several birthday meals here too and the staff make them extra-special. Nothing is too much trouble.
