Bar 163 - Egham
your comments review this restaurant and win a bottle of champagne
I booked a party for the science department of the local university at Bar163 in Egham and It will remain something I regret for a long time. The food was overpriced and all the food that was ordered was not provided, the same goes for all the drinks that were pre-paid for, I happened to pay for ten bottles of wine only 5 made an appearance; the wine cost £110 and I later noticed that this "house wine" was also a cheap wine heavily stocked by Tesco. The waitress was all too eager to remove food that people had yet to finish, and spent the evening insulting the staff of the department. I might also like to add that their party room is very small and does not meet the space needed for 70 guests despite the staffs mention that it would be a comfortable size.
One other thing that remained the most vivid was a corking charge that appeared out of thin air despite a previous agreement that wines from the staff could be brought, later denied, confiscated and a £100 "corking charge". Having spent so long preparing a party for all the staff to enjoy I must say that this experience left me un wanting to ever try again....at least Bar163.
