i went here for my 3rd wedding anniversary.
we had sardines and calamari for starters. a bit mediocre and overpriced but tasty.
i then ordered Fillets of red mullet topped with a mixture of breadcrumbs, garlic, chilli, sun-dried tomatoes, olives, walnuts, lemon juice, rosemary and parsley, baked in the oven
when my meal arrived they were basically breaded red mullet filltes. well cooked but not as descibed at all. if i had wanted breaded fish i would have ordered this. i asked the duty manager ( who'd tkaen our order) if i had misunderstood the menu. she checked with the chef and returned to tell me it was a described. i don't think i have a dead palette but i could not taste any of the ingredients and there was little evidence of them. she could see my disappointment so she pleasantly offerd to bring me another meal and said she would give me a special free dessert of my choice. i accepted gratefully.
she took my meal and returned with a menu, within 3-4 minutes she returned to take my order. all looking professional i thought!
i asked what she could recommend. it was then she told me that there was nothing wrong with food , they didn't get complaints and that i would be charged for the meal they had taken away anyway. i was so shocked i had to get her to clarify that she would charge me for both meals. all this time my poor husband's chicken pasta ( whic he felt was ok but mediocre and overrpiced) was getting cold, as was my average accompaniment of seasonal veg ( a non descript butternut squash mash and roasted new pots).
i said i'd have my meal back then as i was not paying for another meal. it took over 5 mins for my meal to be returned and then half was cold and half was reheated.
at this stage we got the bill. the wine was free. but now i am more sick i paid them a penny. their lack of courteous service ruined my anniversary and wasted a precious babysitting session. their justification. they don't get complaints!! pull the other one!
the decor is a bit dated but that could be overlooked if the food was good!?!?!
