Le Petit Nantais, Le Bistro

Unfortunately from the moment myself & my four friends sat down to dinner last week at Le Petit Nantais we were treated to both terrible service and an even worse attitude problem from both the staff and indeed the owner who boasts on his website that this is a family run business....

Our orders were taken and arrived all but one incorrectly. When notified the waiter of this he proceeded to take the steaks away, scrape off the incorrect sauce and returned the original meal to us…with all the sauce still on the side of the plate. This would have been disastrous if one of us had been allergic to one of the ingredents for example. Do not get me wrong…we let a lot of other things wrong with the meal and service pass but do retain the right to politely notify the Manager/ Owner (who actually did come and ask us if everything was ok) when we are not experience service that a restaurant of this level should give. What we do not expect is his to be so rude, impolite and downright obnoxious as to leave us both shocked and astounded. There is a lot left to be desired regarding customer service. The shame is that the food was not bad but the service and attitude will ensure that neither our party will ever return and will have no hesitation is not recommending this restaurant to all we know.

My advice is to pass this one by - and visit one of the many other Hampton Court restaurants – of which there are many – who value customers in theses hard times and offer better quality food for this price.

I absolutely adore eating at le petit nantais! The staff are very attentive, the food is fsntastic and the ambiance is like no other restaurant ive ever been to. Kim the owner chatted with us for a good 20 minutes and continued to do the same with all the other tables in the restaurant. We now frequent at le petit nantais a minimum of twice a month and have yet to be disappointed!

Jp the co owner, husband of kim and chef will, on occasion, also serenade us with the help of a resident accordianist singing Alouette and Les Marseilles which is just fab! Kim and jp we love you!

We went last Friday for our first meal there - it felt like a little bit of Paris in Hampton Court. Wonderful atmosphere, service and food. We will be back !

A really lovely French restaurant; wonderful atmosphere; and great food. My steak frites was excellent; a well aged, perfectly cooked steak with crisp, crunchy 'french fries'. The starters were great as well. I very much look forward to visiting again.

Best Bistro in the UK ! Best sourced ingredients in surrey , treats include all fish and seafood ( as is less than 24 hours old) best steak (fillet) , steak tartare ,and JP's Rabbit Pate !and my only complaint is the desert (because i dont like them) but the 5 piece cheese board - speak to Jerome or JP is a treat - great food , great drink , great people - please enjoy !

This is the only place I know in Surrey where you can get Steak Tartare et Frites - quite Superb - but very expensive - had it twice there now, it could do with more Steak Tartare and less Frites though - The Blonde waitress is also Super Cute . .

This is my favourite French restaurant in England. I am French so I really know all the dishes but when I miss home, I go to the Petit Nantais for their fantastic food and atmosphere. I really lke the decor which is original and the lady playing the accordeon on Fridays. Thefre is a great choice of seafood and a wide range of specials and the most difficult time is choosing the food because it all sounds so tempting!

It's just brilliant. Went there again last night with the family, and since my wife is gluten-intolerant, JP simply made a one-off flour-free pepper sauce for the steak on the spot. How can you not love this place? It doesn't compromise, even in these credit-crunched days.

i have moved into the area recently and have looked longily at this restaurant as i have walked past it. I finally dined there this weekend and it did not dissappoint. the food was mouth wateringly spectacular. JP buys in all his own fish in the morning so the "specials" menu is a treat as well as the menu.

There were four of us and each of us said we had not tasted better fish anywhere (we had the halibut and the Plaice) - and one of had the filet steak in the red wine sauce which was mouth watering.

they also do for pudding "a little bit of everything" which is just delight on a plate.

The atmosphere is lovley and the staff are very friendly.

On saturdays, the chef serves fresh oysters from the front of the restaurant with a chilled glass of wine.

It is truly worthy of as many stars and rosettes that you can throw at it.
