I would agree with the last person. We went for a family birthday meal last Wednesday, and the service was absolutely appalling. We had to wait three quarters of an hour to an hour for drinks and despite repeated requests to order, we were ignored, unlike all the other diners around us. I did complain to one of the waitresses, who did not respond in any way whatsoever. If it was not for the fact that it was my daughters birthday, we would have walked out. I nor any of my family would every go to this restaurant again.

We are new to the area, we've been trying few restaurants, went to Locale was most disappointed on our visit. Food was average, service a little slow and prices were not compatible with the quality of the food. I think the reviews are well over the top for I would describe a very average restaurant.

Been to this place a few times now with my partner, coming from a family of restaurateur's I can tell you the food is always excellent. We both like the feel of the place, I like the comfortable chairs and good size tables, my partner likes the cocktails, i have to say the bon bon martini is one of my all time favourite drinks, would drink it by the pint if my body would only let me, the staff are friendly and on the ball ,the manager always seems to find time to come say hi, these guys seem passionate.

Been in twice through November. One dinner and a light lunch business meeting.

Great service, food was terrific and the atmosphere suited our working lunch. Had the Rib-eye on both occassions! Excellently prepared, I had to have it again!

Professional staff, it felt that we were being treated like regulars. I would recommend this restaurant as a local business lunch venue where you could confidently take clients.

well, what can i say? me and partner have recently moved to the area and decided to check out the restaurants close by, we wanted to find somewhere special where we could celebrate and we werent disappointed.

We booked our table for 2000, when we arrived the restaurant was very busy -we were met by the charming Manager who showed us to our table.

The menu had great variety and we were informed all the produce is freshly prepared on the day-I opted for the ravioli and my partner, the fillet steak which was accompanied by the most delicious sauce. We went for the antipasti for a starter and that was exquisite-a must have dish if you go there!

The whole experience was truly exceptional, from the warm greeting we recieved , to service , to presentation.

i would highly reccommend this restaurant to anyone who enjoys great food and a great atmosphere. first class

Living fairly locally to Locale if you pardon the pun we have walked passed this restaurant many times preferring to stick to what we know. Some friends had recently raved about the place so we decided to give it a try.

It was pretty busy in fact I would say buzzing when me and the girlfriend rocked up. The manager a nice chap and very chatty suggested we had a drink in the bar before eating. I guess that he was actually just managing the numbers in the restaurant but it worked.

The barman suggested we try a cocktail (martini bon bon I think they called it) which I don't usually go for but he was pretty certain I would like it and like it we did! (sorry Gary back on the beer next week) and had a couple each and these are a 'must try' if you go.

Once we were seated the waitress told us that everything was freshly prepared on the premises each day. She recommended a couple of dishes but after seeing the steak on another table opted for that whilst the mrs went for a Pizza. I have to say the food was brilliant with the steak was melt in your mouth and went well with potatoes and a kind of garlic spinach. The Mrs said the Pizza was the best she had had for a while.

All in all we had a top night and this will defiantly be our Locale from now on we thoroughly recommend it!

I have had pizza at Locale few times. Many times were because I just did not think of any other place would make a better pizza in the area, that was a while ago. their prices have gone up significantly over the months while the quality has definitely gone down. i used to think their pizza was at least better than dominoes but now, i'm not so sure since trying the Gowlett and the Actress (wood fired oven) they both do excellent pizza.I will never waste my time again at Locale!

Visited Locale yesterday for the second time and this is fast becoming my favourite restaurant in Dulwich. Staff are refreshingly on the ball and service is slick and friendly. We ate simple pizza and pasta rather than from the main meat and fish section of the menu but both were fresh, well cooked and tasted excellent. I can safely recommend this joint both for a mid-week quick meal or special occasion, very nice.

Having gone for dinner with not-that-high expectations, I was pleasantly surprised. The interior is far more impressive than the exterior and the warm welcome on arrival was a good start.

We chose to be seated straight away, although were offered a drink at the bar even though we arrived more or less when we had booked for. Even so, still offered a drink to start and the waiter guessed exactly we wanted - quite impressive trick. Didn't feel at all rushed, even for a Saturday evening.

Onto the food - calamari to start, a bit predictable, but often predictable is good in a restaurant, and it tasted just fine. I then asked which steak to chose and was advised to go for the Argentinean sliced steak - which was about as perfect as I have ever tasted - beautifully presented, just the right amount, seriously delicious.

The wine was also good and reasonably priced

The service was also excellent, if not a little 'over attentive', which without prompting, the manager apologised for, and brought a couple of complimentary drinks for us. If my only complaint was over attentive service, then that is not such a bad thing.

Overall, an excellent venue, great service, and truly exceptional food - what a nice change.

I went along with my Girlfriend on Saturday night to check out this place since it seems to have had a bit of a make over recently.

We shared the mixed sliced meats to start which was really tasty, especially the parma ham and the fennel which I think was pickled? lots on the plate and good value.

For main courses my girlfriend had the chefs choice Ravioli in sage butter, and although it was quite simply presented it was delicious, It was filled with pumpkin and fontana (sp?) cheese.

I had the chicken with roast potatoes and rocket salad and it was superb, the chicken was tasty and juicy and the potatoes were great. We shared a side order of the spinach with garlic and it was good, if perhaps a little too much garlic butter for my tastes.

We were pretty full after that but we managed to share the chocolate fondant, which was incredibly rich, good job we shared it because I don't think I could have finished one after the rest of the meal!

Overall we had a great time, good food, friendly service and at a reasonable price. Much better than some of the chain restaurants in the area, and well worth a visit.

We will be back!
