what the critics say

Guardian

Matthew Norman - 7/10

Saturday, March 07, 2009 - All the traditional tapas were good. Anchovies marinated in sherry vinegar were superbly fresh, and enlivened by pools of oily-green garlic of the kind you see oozing out of a snail shell…Decent tapas is such a crowded market now that Tendido Cuatro wisely looks for a USP in the guise of "Gourmet" paella. The two we tried were aesthetic triumphs, that uniquely absorbent bomba rice having soaked up a delicious, winey, garlicky stock and turned a deeply alluring shade of brown in the pan.

Feargus O'Sullivan

Wednesday, September 24, 2008 - Calling Tendido Cuatro to make my booking, I was haughtily informed we were allowed the table for a measly, churlish, rubbish 90 minutes. Naturally, I wasn’t best pleased, having made a personal pledge to avoid both Yauatcha and Hakkasan in the past for similar treatment (pay attention, Alan Yau). But, for the good of journalism, I behaved myself, arrived bang on time, ordered and ate briskly.

Fantastic! My husband and I gave this restaurant a go for our Anniversary and we couldn’t have had a better meal. We arrived without a booking, not a good move! Make sure you book! We ended up with a table in the middle with waiters constantly rushing around us.

But the food was fantastic! We are huge fans on Spanish and have tried many a restaurant in London, this was one of the best! The dishes are pricier than average but well worth it. The croquettes, asparagus and prawns were all particularly good! However drinks were expensive and no BYO like someone thought. Definitely recommend.

We just moved to Parsons Green and were delighted to discover this Tapas restaurant. We had already been to the famous Cambio de Tercio but didn't know they had another one in SW6.

We tried the black rice paella, grilled prawns, lamb chops, baby squid etc..

Service was very friendly and willing to help.

The Manager told us that form 1st of March they would also offer BYO. That will be fantastic as most restaurants in London rip you off with the wine prices.

Really recommend it!

when you have a empire of restaurants in an overrated city as London, you're prices can not be cheap or even fare from be fair prices but what i saw yesterday lunch time is stealing money to the customers. First thing, you need to update the websites, can not have different prices to the restaurant but happened £12 paella for two (website), in the restaurant £14 the same paella for two???. Second, you shouldn't advert a Tendido Cuatro Loyalty Discount card if you are not able to supply it, Should you? Waiter told me "the card is in process", unacceptable!!! The paellas we ordered, nice and tasty with rice perfectly cooked, but £14 for 70 grames of paella each person, TOO EXPENSIVE!! Wasn't caviar Mr Lusa, really wasn't. The tapas starters we had, Average ,not impressed at all being the ham croquetas the best by far and again too expensive. Fried squid £7.75 and was chewy with the garlic burnt. Octopus at £7 again dissapointed!! chewy, tasteless and with MASH Potatoes! A waste of flavour in my opinion!! Don't go there please because as spaniard i felt in the same way british feel in Costa del Sol when the prices in restaurants going up just for them. Big shame.

We have visited the three restaurants in the last 2 weeks as we live in Paris and friends of ours had recommended Cambio de Tercio to us.

We adored it and decided to visit Tendido Cero and Tendido Cuatro.

If you've never been to Tendido Cuatrro, you are really missing out on some good quality spanish food, made with the best ingredients from spain. Service is fantastic and helpful and the decor is very cosy and very spanish.

Very disappointing, seafood paella was a cheat, as no seafood was practically there.

Room was noisy and tables too close to each other.

Not recommended.

My boyfriend had been telling me about this place for a long time so I was very curious to see what all the fuss was about. He took me there last night (Sat-4th July) and it exceeded my expectations. The staff were incredibly friendly and the food was delicious. Having lived in Barcelona I am rather critical of tapas places in London however this was in some cases better than a lot of the places I've been to there. The atmosphere was great, the staff were obviously busy but made it completely effortless everytime we asked for another dish, bottle of wine etc. I'd especially recommend the baby Lamb chops which almost melted in the mouth. Honestly one of the best dining out experiences I've had in so so long...it is quite rare to find a restaurant that matches amazingly good food with lovely service and great atmosphere...definately book a table!!!

I love TENDIDO CUATRO, it is just as good as its sister restaurants CAMBIO de TERCIO and TENDIDO CERO.

Definitely worth going. Excellent quality food, service and atmosphere.

All worth its price.

Great traditional tapas - Iberico Ham, Baby Anchovies, Patatas Bravas – spicy, Serrano Ham Croquets, & some lovely crunchy pastry rolls stuffed with sobrasada chorizo, all executed with a soft modern touch. But the highlight for my 35th birthday party (14 in the party) was the wide selection of different paellas available & none of that dry brick style paellas (if they can be called a paella) that you get in many restaurants in the UK and even Spain. In fact these paellas, we had 2 of each (Veg & Saffron Paella, Rabbit & Veg Paella & Quail & Chorizo Paella) where as good or better than many of the paellas I have enjoyed in Eastern Spain. They were all succulent paellas with a touch of crusty base, I would highly recommend this restaurant as a venue for anyone who wants to have a lively fun dinner with a large group (they even have a party menu, which we all ordered from). This is how paella dinning is all about in Spain. We enjoyed ourselves enormously and had some inexpensive red wine called Castillo de Manzanares Tempranillo Reserva , which went down greatly. In fact I can’t wait for my next party at TENDIDO CUATRO.

I went there with my friends and had the best chorizo paella I have ever tasted! The atmosphere is very cheerful, the service superb. And it is a good value for money too. We were 7 of us and had 5 or 6 tapas 2 bottles of wine, soft drinks and 2 paellas. Sharing the bill was £23 each...not bad if compared with other spanish restaurants in London. I would definitely recommend.

what the bloggers say

Gourmet Chick

Gourmet Chick - 7/10

Thursday, January 29, 2009 - The menu lists a selection of tapas along with paellas which were a bargain at £9 per person. However, waiting 20 minutes for a paella seemed like it might feel like an eternity so we opted for the (almost) instantaneous gratification of tapas. The grilled asparagus had a delicious slightly charred flavour although we mainly ignored the bland Romescu sauce it was served with. Tiendo Cuatro's patatas bravas were presented as individual cubes of spicy potato topped with dollops of spicy salsa brava and alioli…
