Giles Coren

Saturday, May 03, 2008 - I didn’t take much notice of the menu. Just ordered the Byron burger: “dry cure bacon, mature cheddar, Byron BBQ sauce” – my three favourite burger toppings all in one – and then ate it, and thought: “That’s about the best burger I’ve ever had.”

I've been here 2 or 3 times and I think it's great. No frills, no big claims - just great hamburgers. Nice, clean setting and good service. Beats the socks off GBK for me.

Giles Coren said this place served the best burgers in London. And to think I used to trust his reviews!

My burger, requested medium-well was so bloody the bun was soaked through red. Sent it back of course and it returned slightly better but still pretty cold and lame.

Atmosphere is also a let down, bland and white and noisy, and the service was pretty mediocre too. Don't go, go to Bodeans.

I agree wholeheartedly with the reviewer below. The burgers are great, the chips excellent and the service swift. However, I have never been to a restaurant with so many badly behaved children running around. Presumably this is mainly a weekend lunch time problem, but severely curtails the enjoyment of anyone eating without children. Perhaps they could have a child free area, similar to the non-smoking sections of old?

Very good bugers ;nice location, friendly staff;well-priced and executed food.

So what is wrong you ask? Well......this has become a place for wealthy parents with small kids with absolutely NO manners .Noise;spills;whining kids;bored parents cajoling spoiled brats;kids unable to sit still for 2 minutes. These people should stay at home .These kids are obviously so spoiled they have no sense of anticipation/occasion at being taken to a restaurant.and it's obvious the parents exert no discipline whatsoever on the kids. You can tell that they are all there because it is nanny's day off and they don't know what else to do.

While Byron has great potential, they are going to find themselves as a glorified nursery, and end up like sticky fingers catering to children's parties with crayons etc all over the floor.

The owners have to think carefully about what they want to be and what is their target market before it is too late.

Went to this place at the weekend. Burger was definitely the best I've ever eaten. Also good crunchy courgette fries, and a fantastic milkshake made with chocolate biscuits! Definitely recommend as a cheap and cheerful treat after a shopping trip down Kensington High Street!

Great place. The best hamburgers in London by a distance, with a theatre kitchen which is great to sit around. Service friendly and efficient. Fantastic for families.
