Went there for the first time a few days ago. The bar downstairs is nicely done, but it is a RIP-OFF! Went to the bar and ordered a beer - they only serve Kingfisher in half pints. The cost: £3.95, plus 12.5% sevice charge! I wouldn't have minded too much about the expensive beer, but the service charge really takes the p***.

Been to this place at various times on various nights - usually pretty empty and not smoky which is one of the reasons that we go. The drinks menu is elaborate and while the drinks can be weak on the alcohol side, they are generally very good. This place can also be very romantic if it's not too crowded with the dim lighting and sofa banquettes. The staff are generally very helpful (as they are not too busy anyway). The drinks are not too unreasonably priced for such a nice place.

We booked an area of this bar for 6pm on Saturday night to take advantage of their happy hour which ran til 7pm (as advised on the phone). Upon arriving at the bar we were told that Happy Hour only ran between 5 and 6pm. I asked to speak with the manager as we had specifically sought a bar with a Happy Hour as there were 18 of us on a night out. The manager was less than helpful, in fact was quite hostile and is obviously quite narrowminded in his understanding of good customer service. Although the bar staff were friendly, the prices are high even for the area. I would not revisit this bar again based purely on the experience on Saturday night.
