Starvin' Marvin's

I used to eat there quite often but hadn't been in a while. After reading the awfull reviews here I thought I'd go and see if it had really got that bad. It didn't start well being greeted by a scruffy grubby looking waiter who spoke less than 10 words to us during the hour and 20 minutes we were there. The starter was Nachos, they were disgusting and over priced. The main meals were disappionting ( Veggie cheesy melt sandwhich and BBQ Bacon Burger). I would have considerd them ok if they were a few pounds cheaper. The Milkshakes were the best thing they had to offer but they are served in plastic glasses as were the soft drinks. The coke I orded was in a grubby plastic beaker with chipped edges. If I was 6 years old I may have considerd that ok but as an adult it came across as cheap and nasty.
The over all decore it tired but not quite as bad as described in other reviews. Other people sitting near us seemed to be very unhappy with the muted waiter. I've been as fair as I can be and I'm not really a fussy person and I seldom complain but I have to say Starvin Marvins has really gone down hill. It offers none of what this style of place should. Best avoid it .

Like others had been passing this place for ages.
Went along having not read a review.
Service was very slow but place was not busy.
Food was poor especially for the price.
What a disappointment. Would not go again or recommend to anyone

passed this place a hundred times and finally decided to try it.
from outside it looks derelict, the car park in overgrown with weeds and rubbish.
inside its wornout and dirty.
the foods ok
i tried to pay the bill with cash and could not because they had no change for a £20 note (says it all doesn't it) and the first card machine would not work
what a shambles!

Our visit was shocking!! Having driven past the place over 3 years always was a place our family wanted to try as it looks very appealing. How wrong were we. Place looks like it hasnt had a good clean since it opened. Kids high chairs were filthy which we had to clean, the table was as dirty as the next!! Well as for the food for the price you pay if the food was nice would be value for money! However this was not the case! The burger was caked in sauce to try and hide the taste of out of date salad and burnt burger, sandwiches ingredients were out of date. the chips had been re fryed about 5 times.. . only good thing to come out of it was a milkshake...
Will never be going here again and wouldnt advise it no matter how hungry you are!! Theres a mcdonalds bit further up the road at least you know where you stand

This place ticks all the boxes but for a few things.
The service was typical british service, slow and unfriendly.
The burgers were greasy and very low quality meat, even the kids couldn't eat them and that's saying something. Guys don't do frozen burgers it should be a handfull of ground beef slapped on the plate with some seasoning.
Not impressed at all.
As Americans we know what we are talking about. A real shame as the place looked great "don't forget the meat"
But the nachos were great

This place is so inviting when you're on the A40. A massive silver American caravan that belongs in some distant place like on the famous route 66 or in an American road movie. The interior doesn't disappoint, the shakes are brilliant but a bit small but the burgers and other side orders are amazing. The sad part is the price which is a tad expensive. The other major issue is the service which isn't very American - you can't sit on the counters and you have to wait until tables are cleaned even though they have been empty for ages. A bit slow and finicky basically. They fuss over petty things. Other than that a nice place to hang out but where are the refills??

I have always seen Starvin Marvin's on the A40 but have never ventured in there, but on Sunday, my girlfriend and I decided to bite the bullet and go in. I thought it was a great throwback to the 50's and I liked the decor. The service was very adequate, the food portions were "American" size and tasty, bottomless soda and coffee which is always good, if you are looking for basic USA food served in the original format outside of the USA, this is the place......

Awesome extra coffee in the coffee and vanilla shake. Served by a Chicago sweetheart.

There's a reason its on the side of the road, it's because it's a convenience restauarant. Quoting the person below "it doesn't claim to be fine dining".
It's really really great American food. The curly fries are beyond perfection and there is a huge choice of food on the menu.
Service isn't great but it's not awful. Tend to be fairly good looking young people though, which is always nice.
Depending on what time of day you go, the atmosphere i'm assuming varies from packed with families to fairly quiet. I've been multiple times and it tends to be nice and buzzing. Don't go there if you are not a people person.
Good value for money, not expensive at all.
A nice place to stop off for, for a quick lunch.

went on a saturday afternoon and the place was quite busy but god knows why.
i had the 4oz steak and prawns which was more like a piece of liver and everything else tasted deep fried. it has got to bt the worst food ive had to pay that kind of money for in my life, i could of gone to sticky fingers or big easy and had proper food for what i paid in marvins. i dont know how people could rate it for value for money i wish i had carried on further up the a40 to the drive thur mac d's.
DONT GO MARVINS TOTAL WASTE OF MONEY IMO.
