Absolutely appalling. Would never go back. The management is a disgrace and the food dreadful.

I went to this place the week it opened, years ago and it was brilliant. All the staff were in the same clean and crisp uniform. The service was excellent. It was spotless. Went back every so often and everything got worse and worse very quickly until the place was disgusting. As an American friend said to me 'the problem with American themed places in Britain is that you get the American theme but the British service'. I would be intrigued to know who owns this place. American diners with American quality in London should be making an absolute fortune.

I wrote a review of Starvin' Marvins for this website but for some reason it was never published. I'm guessing that's because I used language that was unacceptable for human consumption. Like the food that inspired it. This time I won't use any of that language. Instead, I'm going to request that you imagine the five most disgusting words in the English language, and the next time someone suggests,' let's go to Starvin Marvins for eat a burger', remember to reply. 'No 1ing,2ing,3ing,4ing ,5ing way.'

The worst burger I have ever eaten.

The service is absolutely appalling. Such a shame because the diner building is so unique. Waited over an hour for food - our order got misplaced - no apology offered. Visited on cold day and the diner was freezing cold.

Starvin' Marvin's is rubbish!

Don't go there if you're expecting a clean, warm diner.

There is filthy cuttlery, greasy tabletops and the food takes ages to arrive. It's not worth the wait.

I'm not going back.

reviews for this place are poor, and no wonder.

the food is bland, the place isnt very clean,it is expensive for the quality of food.

above all this is a 50's diner without a 50's feel to it there is no atmosphere and the staff dont believe in the ethos of a diner.

if you want someone to turn this around put a contact app. on your web page and i will be in touch. i am passionate about american diners and would love the opportunity to help turn this into a place nostalgia buffs want to be

I wish we'd read reviews before we came here. The place was filthy, the food was disgusting. Possibly the most disappointing thing were the milkshakes that weren't made with ice cream but crushed ice cubes. They couldn't possibly have done more to make this an unacceptable eating experience.

We were warned that it would be 20 mins for food and that there were no all day breakfasts. This was at 12.00 on a Saturday. There was one guy waiting on the tables.

It's disorganised, dirty, expensive and the food is very below average and poor quality. My veggie burger was pathetic and the hot chocolate that is £2.30 is made from a packet with boiling water.

It's a shame, it could be a great place.

Is shabby meant to be shabby and fear for your health, if it is this is so bang on it is scary. Scary is how you would feel if you had to eat there and risk your health. This dump is trading on the external look and british desire for Americana type stuff. Then once through the door knowing that the average brit is too shy to vote with there feet and walk. Don't do it, just go to McDonalds and that will be a positive experience by comparison.

Marvin is starvin' because he probably died waiting for service in this dump.

Simply the worst dining experience I've ever had. Nearly an hour to get a burger in a place with no more than 10 other diners and 4 people preparing the food says customer service is bottom of the list. The food, when it did come, was ok - perfectly edible, but nothing special to justify the wait. Frustratingly, I couldn't get the waiting staff to come back once the food was dumped on my table - they were masters of avoiding one's gaze. I was spared the ritual "is everything alright for you?" question, but only because the waiting staff really didn't appear to care less either way.

In the end, I stood up and went to the till to pay, since nobody would even come to give me the bill.

The US government should strip this place of the right to associate themselves with the term "American". If more surly and disinterested staff exist in any other business, I'd be amazed. I can't see this place surviving unless radical changes are made.

In short, utterly, utterly dreadful in every respect. Don't be tempted by the false promise of American service and 50s charm as I was - it's a pale imitation of the real thing.
