Very very good. Amazing fresh food and great service. Been here with both big party and small and always been as spectacular as expected!
Just remember if you get the fish platter you may not have room for starter or desert (which you need to have tries of).
WELL DONE!
Also saw Caroline Quentin there.

Why no reviews for the past 18 months? I've regularly passed Applebee's while visiting Borough Market but have just made my first evening visit for a meal. A rather cramped dining area attached to a wet fish shop takes a slight edge off the ambience but is of course also a source of the restaurant's strength. Ingredients couldn't be better and everything we tried from the 100% seafood menu was exemplary.
All the staff we encountered were welcoming and helpful.
Presumably because of the limited overall space, tables are too close together and the tables for two look tiny (a common restaurant fault), but all three who shared this dining experience would be very happy to return ay any time.

Food is always outstanding, service always professional and discreet. The design of the space itself isn't completely successful (it isn't especially comfortable or glamorous) - but I go there all the time for the quality and reliability of the food. Highly recommended. Prices look high on the menu but they don't add in all the usual hidden extras so the bill is always reasonable.

We live really near to Applebees and have often looked at the menu thinking it looked good. We tried it for the first time on Friday night and were really impressed. We had booked for 8.30 and needed to - it was very busy when we arrived. The service was great throughout the meal. The menu had loads of great sounding dishes, and a real variety in prices - ranging from several main selections at about £10 up to things like dover sole and turbot for much more! The menu only has fish dishes with no vegetarian or meat dishes.
We opted for grilled prawns to share to start (5 big, beautifully cooked prawns) then a grilled fish platter (which I think had salmon, tuna, a prawn, a scallop, some bass, all lovely with some fantastic chips and four great dips to eat with it - about £18) for me and really good fish and chips for my boyfriend (about £10). Sides quite expensive at £3. The meal was rounded off by a really nice bottle of White Burgundy - the wine list is small but reasonably priced.
The whole thing came to about £30 each including service. No 'optional' 12.5% service charge on the bill either which is more and more unusual! I would definitely recommend giving it a go and we'll be visiting again.
