i recently went to axum restaurant currently named nile restaurant with a few friends of mine and loved and enjoyed the whole experience. i would reccomend everyone who is interested in trying ethiopian food to make a trip to nile (axum) restaurant for a real ethiopian experience. my friends and i had a variety of veg and non veg food and it was fabolous we also had traditional coffee which was wonderful, the service was perfect and felt like home.
so i would definetly make a trip to nile restaurant again, it takes me an hour to get there but i think it is worth it. so anyone wanting to try it out for themselves go go go to nile restaurant you'll love it

This is a lovely little restaurant. Despite the dated decor and lack of other diners my friend and I had a great night there. Delicious food and potent honey wine, along with great service made this restaurant one I'll return to again and again.

Even though we are spoilt for choice food-wise in Battersea/Clapham we keep returning to this delightful, off-beat place. The owners are just lovely and will explain the food and how to eat it. The food is wonderful every time, we've never been disapointed. 2 of us can have wine and eat til we're full for less than 20quid. Go try it!

Amazing food, especially the gored gored - best eaten as rare as you can handle it. The ethiopian honey wine's nice but prob best just to get one between a few cos it's really sweet. Loads of really good veggie options too, esp the lentil dish but you'd prob need to ask for a seperate plate of injeera bread to have it served on cos otherwise the dishes all get served togehter. The coffe smells amazing too, they roast the beans over a fire in the place. Delicious food and really cheap and really nice staff. There're no starters but don't be fooled into ordering an extra main as we did and were totally stuffed!

Have no idea what dimension Andrew Booton was in when he tried this place but his review doesnt match up to my experience of Axum. Really great food at a good price. Service can be a little questionable but great food.

I went to this restaurant the other night and had the absolute best Ethiopian food I've had since I've been in London. The food was really good and inexpensive (as most Ethiopian food is) though I'll admit not as good as if it were home cooked. The beer was smooth too. A must try. The trek down to Axum seems a bit far but it's definitely worth it. I'll definitely be going back soon!

I read reviews for this restaurant and thought it sounded great. Just what I was after for a reunion of former colleagues who had all worked in africa. What arrant nonsense the reviews turned out to be! We waited 35 minutes before we even ordered drinks. There was one woman serving who was singularly unhelpful. I suspect she was also cooking too, aswell as humping boxes of stuff in and around the dining room whilst we patiently waited. For a group of 4, we wanted to try a selection from the (very skimpy) menu. We were charged £55 for the privilege, despite claims of good value!! What rubbish! And when it finally turned up after a further hour's wait, it was utter slop. I've had 100 times better in mud huts in the jungle. It wasn't as if the place was busy: 1 table of 2 left as we arrived and there was a group of 10 already in. This place is a disgrace and should be shut down. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.
