Had a very good lunch at Forbury's a week ago. I am not local, but was working nearby. The menu is interesting, classical French and the cooking is very good - no slip-ups. Mushroom fricasse to start was nice, but the slightly tasteless pastry lid was unwanted. The steak tartare was much better. The pig three ways was excellent. A strawberry souffle dessert was, I am told (by a souffle fanatic) the best he'd ever had.The manager recommended a very good, young claret (less than £25 and perfect for lunch).
Service was impeccable.
Quite pricey, but fair for the quality of the food.
Room and ambience was fine.
