Presidential Suya

With a name like that my Nigerian husband and myself thought we had discovered a nice Nigerian restaurant.
Interior looks good with a private seating area but seats are packed a bit too close for comfort.
Service: staff take a long time to acknowledge customers and orders take a long time before served.
Food: reasonable tough not presidential quality
It was a bit of a disappointing experience for us both.

I love my West African food but have exasperated by the slack service, slow food preparation and inconsistency in quality (though never quantity!). Admittedly I only ever went in for takeaway, but never enjoyed the experience since half the menu was unavailable. This was the case EVERY TIME I went in. In the end I stopped asking what's not available and started asking what was. This was much easier and less frustrating. Why have a huge menu board if you never have anything on it. Service aside, the soups either had very boney chicken or very fatty meat. I'm glad that there are finally other West African eateries on Old Kent Road because for too long Presidential seemed like the only (half decent choice).
