Brasserie Gerard (Kensington)

I have mixed feelings about this restaurant, having been twice and having had very different experiences!

The first time the service was good but the food was quite poor. I had a steak as my main and it was full of fat and barely edible.

The second time I have been, the service was really bad; we waited standing at the door for about 5 minutes and then forgot once we were shown to our table for another 30 minutes with no menus and half of the cutlery!

When we finally managed to order and the food arrived though, it was delicious!

I had a warm goat cheese salad as a starter and a leg of lamb as a main, although it arrived in the form of a steak and not as a leg shank which is what I had immagined. The dessert was a bit more disappointing consisting on a very heavy cheesecake however the house Merlot was really good.

The place is not cheap though, charging about £70 for 2 people, 3 course meal with house wine.
