i visited this lovely restaurant on saturday 17th march 2007 after researching restaurants near to the london palladium, where we saw the matinee of the sound of music that afternoon. visiting several other garfunkel's restaunts in london on previous visits i was delighted to discover that it was near the palladium as we were coming to london on a coach weekend and wouldnt have alot of time to eat before the show.
my nan, her friend anfd myself arrived at the restarant at 12 midday, pleased to find it is next to the palladium! we were quickly seated and our drinks order taken while we looked at the menu, the three or us opted for burgers as we would be having an evening meal at our hotel. we ordered and 10 minutes later our order arrived, the portion sizes are value for money we all enjoyed our meals! my nan and her friend oped for puddings, treacle sponge pudding which was a generous portion too! while i had coffee. the bill for the three of us was £37, which in london is very good!!!! we were all happy amd satisfied with our meals and the service we received, which was still quick and prompt even when the restaurant filled up quickly after we arrived,
i dissagree with all the bad reviews of this restaunt, i was completely satisfied with everything and made our day even more enjoyable.
i will be eating at garfunkel's again next time im in london, shame i live in the midlands as i am now a fan of these restaunts!!!!

After a long day of stroling down oxford street me and my two friends came to Garufunkel's and decided we would have a late lunch there.
We were kindly seated to our table.
After enjoying the friendly atmosphere we decided what we were going to order.
After a short wait 2 drippy and 1 dry but pleasant Wrap came to our table.
After lots of chatting and laughter we asked our friendly waiter if he would join us for a photo, he happily joined in.
After a misunderstanding of bringing the bill before dessert he kindly apologised
and brought our delicious New York Cheesecake with three spoons.
We would like to thank Leo for a fun and pleasent stay at Garfunkel's
love from the Garfunkel fans,

The Oxford Circus branch of Garfunkel's is a very poor example of this chain. The food is slowly and inexpertly prepared, unless you're there for lunch, and you order a 'standard item'. The portions are very small. The waiters are utterly indifferent to their customers' needs or wants.
My companion had a chilli-cheeseburger, which he said was fairly tasty. He also had a milkshake which was too thin, although had a reasonably good flavour.
However, he easily finished his milkshake in the more than 30 minutes that it took to prepare his meal and my own, and was never asked whether he might like another beverage, nor was his empty glass noticed and removed from the table, although we were in eye site of the waiters' station at all times, and there were anywhere between three and five wait staff there at any given time/.
One of these was the manager, who seemed unaware until we inquired of him that our order was well over the half-hour mark and not yet anywhere in sight.
When it finally arrived, my food was of very poor quality. I had the mixed grill, supposed to be an English speciality, but not so in this restaurant.
I was disappointed to discover that the sausage had been originally cooked quite some time ago, and was then burnt while warming it up on the grill. I had been asked how I wanted the steak cooked, which was pointless, as it was a minute steak on arrival! Both the steak and the chicken bit (rumoured to be 'chicken breast' on the menu) were innocuous in flavour, but the steak was spoiled by the nasty large tendon running through it, rendering a large section of it completely uneatable--it couldn't even be cut with a knife, it was so tough.
The 'grilled' mushrooms had an odd flavour, as though they had been stewed and then grilled--perhaps a local variant of 'grilled'?
My 'grilled tomato' was completely missing from the plate, and when I inquired about it, I had delivered to me, about five minutes later, a raw tomato with blackened grill lines on it, which was barely warm.
Frankly, this place, overall, is a DUMP and should be avoided. The prices are high, the food isn't worth it, and the service is non-existant--the entire *concept* of service is non-existant.
The only up side of this place is that it doesn't subscribe to that all-to-common phenomenon, the Automatic Tip Included In The Bill. That's not much.

We went to this Garfunkel's prior to seeing a show and we were hard put to enjoy the rest of the evening after such a negative experience! Couples can kiss the idea of an intimate pre-show dinner goodbye here; the tables for two were literally crammed side by side with about 3 inches of space between them (I've been on crowded tube trains that didn't feel so cramped). The waitress forgot to bring us our drinks, the main course was completely underwhelming and my partner's chocolate cake dessert had been re-microwaved to the point that it was a dried up husk of its former self. The topper is that Garfunkel's website provides NO means of contacting them to voice our complaint. Go somewhere else, please!!

Garfunkel's in general get a fairly rough ride from the critics which is largely unwarranted even if they are somewhat less than perfect.
The best things in any Garfunkel's I've ever visited including this branch are the service which is always friendly, quick & attentive and the excellent salad bar which contains many options not normally seen in similar establishments and is always good value and fresh.
Starters are not particularly imaginitive but are well rendered and for your standard grilled chicken and burgers this is fine, with reasonable sized portions, well cooked meat and some actual flavour. Steaks however are not their strong suit and should be avoided unless you have a particular fondness for gristle.
Deserts are presentable but far from essential.
All in all not bad value but with prices that are slightly over the odds for glorified pub grub there is always the temptation to look at alternative restaurants in the same price bracket that might provide a more unusual and exciting meal or to just pay a few quid more for some vastly superior cuisine from a more upmarket venue.
