Went here for a Valentines meal with my husband but was a bit disappointed. The food was lovely, but the service wasnt great. Especially given that it was valentines day I expected a bit of oomph but front of house and serving staff were generally flat and put a bit of a dampner on things.
My husband has been for lunch and says its much much better...maybe just not a particularly romantic restaurant.

In my Italian opinion Murano was the best meal I have ever tried in London.....and I have been in a lot of restaurants....
The menu is very well balanced.....the service was very professional but cool in the same time...the food was excellent.....the ingredients used were very well selected....even the olive oil and bread were authentic.... These are the elements that really can make the difference...I'll be back.

I went to Murano on Saturday night with my husband for a belated birthday dinner. What a disappointment. The food is ok, just average and the service is not what you expect from a fine dining experience. It was almost too much trouble for them to take our order. They were too busy re-laying tables.
The restaurant lacks an atmosphere. We obviously, weren't the only ones who thought so because, it was not very busy which did make us wonder why we seem to have been given the worst table possible. Everytime the door opened, we felt the full force of the wind.
I was tempted to complain but wanted to see how the evening played out.
The service lacked attention to detail and bordered marginally on unfriendly. We have pretty much been to all the Michelin starred restaurant, visiting for special occasions - birthdays, anniversaries etc. This was, by far, the most disappointing given its reputation. If I was Angela Hartnett [who I do admire immensely], I would be embarrassed to be associated with this place.
f you like going out to a nice restaurant for a special occasion, this is one to avoid.
If you're looking for a nice evening out in town to celebrate an occasion, choose somewhere else - Petrus, Le Gavroche, The Square, The Capital, Pied a Terre - they all do it better with more style, substance and panache. As do the Greenhouse and Foliage.
The great thing about London is that we do have so much choice so defintely, spend your money elsewhere.

We had such a wonderful meal here in October that i simply had to return and even cancelled another michelin restaurant reservation in favour of it for our Christmas meal on 23rd Dec. Theres a richness in these walls that oozes trendy cool and the food is simply fantastic. I was a little disappointed to learn that the Patron is not in house for the full service of the mains, however the touches are all there and the canapes, including a delicious breed of fine olive oil, cold meat tasting platter, a tapenade all left you avidly poised for the masterpieces to come, and Hartnett's fold does not disappoint! Not once but twice the best Risotto with truffle i am ever likely to taste lives here! Followed by a fillet of beef cooked to perfection, and my partners lamb dish was to die too! perfect in colour and taste!
The only minor niggle my partner felt the lemon tart was a little lacking following such glorious courses and we did have to wait for our table although booked.
However my dessert was just a gorgeous as the rest of the meal a sort millionaire shortie bread dessert, rich and beautifully intense. All washed down with a Recommended bottle of Champagne. The service is good all round.
To get the best value for money try their lunch menu. great value 2 people, 3 courses one glass of bubbly each cost us £96.00 incl service.

Last week we had a very nice dinner on our annual return to the restaurant now owned by Angela Hartnett.
Great food, however the atmosphere was hurt by cancellations due to the weather.
Great Lobster Linguini!! the pistachio souffle had a wet centre but it all went down well.
I think the restaurant can do better considering last time and we are anxious to visit it again.

My third visit, and on a wet Tuesday the place was full at lunch and from what we ate, deserved to be so. There's a huge gulf within the One Star category, with places such as Murano, Tom Aikens and Maze eons ahead of their so-called peers.
Our starters today were a smoked tomato soup with basil, and a hand-made linguini with clams and a tasty broth. Both excellent. Then a very rich risotto milanese with truffled cream and an interesting dish of pollock with lentils, lardons and baby onions. For dessert we both enjoyed a nicely textured but beautifully intense lemon parfait with an accompanying cream which tasted of concentrated lemon meringue pie. But here its not just what you order its what you get. Great breads with a wonderful grassy olive oil; little canapes; a salami and pieces of ham on a board. A pre-dessert of eight flavours of ice cream and sorbet in bite- sized balls, and finally with the coffee, macaroons , nougat and tiny nuts in a salted chocolate caramel. We enjoyed everything we ate today, and indeed everything was cooked and presented very well.
Murano doesn't offer the cheapest set price lunch in town, but considering the quality and what you actually receive, its exceedingly good value.

I visited this restaurant for a celebratory lunch and had a fantastic meal. The staff showed just the right amount of attentiveness, and were cheerfully efficient and friendly, The ambience was relaxed and friendly and perfect for a leisurely lunch,. We had the set lunch menu, which at £30 a head was fantastic value, and all of the courses were truly delicious. The first course of chicken ravioli was very tasty, and my second of sea bream on a bed of mashed peas was splendid. The chocolate ganache was perfect, and exquistitely balanced. The staff, realising that it was some kind of celebration brought us complimentary chocolates, on top of several complimentray courses, whcih was a very nice touch. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who enjoys excellent food in a friendly atmosphere, and have already suggested it to several friends.

My wife and I had lunch on 1 May and despite the previous review I can confirm that Angela was running the kitchen and the senior front of house staff were the same as our three previous visits over the past year or so. We return to Murano because of the high standard of cooking and service and also because the food has a lighter feel than many high end restaurants.
The welcome and service were excellent as usual and the food was also to the usual high standard. We had sweetbread and frogs legs to start both excellent. We then shared the Dover Sole for two which was beautifully cooked and was filleted at the table for an added touch of theatre. We had the cheese course and the selections we had were ideal for each of us (my wife and I are poles apart on our taste in cheese). My wife had Pistachio soufflé for desert which was excellent, my Almond Moulleux was less successful largely because it wasn't quite to my taste.
The Wine list is a touch expensive - but the selections by Marc-Andrea were spot on and complimented the meal superbly.
All in all a wonderful afternoon and well worth another visit

I used to frequent this place back when Angela Hartnett was still the Head Chef. Back then, food was lovely. They had the most amazing sun dried tomatoes and pasta cooked just right (with lobster last I remember). After a not particularly long hiatus (8 months or so), having heard they changed chefs, my partner and I decided to give this place another go.
First impressions was that the staff was completely different with the exception of one person. Service was acceptable and staff was attentive.
The real clincher was the food. We ordered a la carte which was terribly disappointing. My white asparagus and poached eggs starter was almost inedible. The poached eggs were overcooked and asparagus was over-seasoned. After complaining, the dish was exchanged with the scallops with cucumber, caramelised walnuts and prosciutto ham which was slightly better but terribly ordinary. The components of the dish were all over the place. Mains (I had the pigeon) was probably the best dish I had that night (which once again was nothing to shout about). My partner had the beef fillet whilst perfectly cooked, the sauce of a spiced carrot puree was strange.
For desserts, I opted for the cheese. I was told I could get a selection of six cheeses to which I was given three pieces of biscuit and two miserly slices of bread. I suppose they expected me to pile each slice of cheese on half a biscuit?
Service was alright, if a little distracted but most definitely will not be visiting Murano again any time in the near future.

Having read such great reviews, I chose to celebrate my birthday in Murano this year instead of my usual splurge at Marcus Wareing's. The starters and main courses were very good , well balanced but without th extra wow factor you would expect at £60 per person. The desserts were a major disappointment being either too sweet or just wrong, for exampled salted almond ice-cream was absolutely horrible! The chocolates that came with the coffee were also with sickly sweet or just not very nice. I never thought it was possible not to enjoy a dessert or chocolates.
My other gripe was that all the wines by the glass were served as 125ml - fine for champagne but absolutely ridiculous (and well over-priced) for red and white wine.
Therefore mixed reviews and hard to recommend for a night out. Sorry, Marcus, should have gone back to your wonderful restaurant.
