I went last Tuesday. I was told the kitchen was closed and so none of us could order (they had taken a large booking that they couldn't cope with). When the kitchen finally opened again, at about nine, I was told that my food would come within 15 minutes. It took another 45. When I, and another person, asked about the wait (it was now about 10.15) we were told by the manager that we weren't "in Macdonald's" a fact which was abundantly obvious from the exorbitant prices. We were also reminded that the bar staff hadn't eaten any supper. When my sausages and mash finally arrived - long after I had intended to leave - they were cold and below average, for £11.

Nice place but I was shocked by how tiny the portions were. The linguine was just about OK size-wise but everything else wouldn't feed a mouse!! The food was very nice but the lack of it means I will never eat there again.

Dont know what the last reviewer was talking about. I regularly use the Anglesea Arms and never have had this problem, although it does get very busy. You order at the bar and the staff are great..very attentive and helpful and serve great foood at at fantastic prices for this area. the wide range of wines are aslo great value and there is always the beer as an alternative!

We didn't manage to sample the culinary delights but try grabbing the attention of the bar staff, while waiting at the bar. A competition in itself... It will take approximately 5 minutes or more to be served and you need to make sure you are positioned well to catch their eye - even when the bar is semi-busy with punters. It's very much of a 'space invaders' issue. One has to shuffle ever so slightly to the left or to the right to lock in eye contact and hey presto still no service! Male patrons are clearly much more favoured. I should know, it happened to all of my female friends. Thumbs up for a lovely pub with outdoor seating, great crowd but a 'fawlty towers' service.

Went to The Anglesea Arms on Thursday 6/7 with my family and some friends. The dining room is cosy but very clean and tastefully furnished. We had a fantastic meal: tender meat with veggies and potatoes and apple crumble with vanilla ice cream. My daughter had a generous portion of linguine with pesto, the best I have eaten outside my hometown of Genoa. The service was a bit slow as there was only one waiter on the night who nevertheless was extremely helpful and polite.

We will definitely go back.

Managed to find an outside table on a gloriously sunny Sunday lunchtime and had probably the best plate of fish and chips I have ever eaten; the chips were thick and homemade, the haddock was in a light and tastey beer batter, the mushy peas were buttery and smooth and the tartare sauce was homemade and there was plenty of it.

The service was friendly and it was about a tenner per main course. Highly recommended.
