Monday, December 06, 2010 - Our burritos turn up looking like big silver bombs. These boys are enormous; a 12-inch floury and soft tortilla wraps a mega-mix of meat plus beans, rice, lettuce, cheese, sour cream and salsa and more besides...The lamb is excellent, a smoky flavour and a glorious tenderness, all offset by the starchy beans, the piquant salsa and the sour cream. We have half a one each and then eat the steak version, which is very good but the lamb is the winner by a woolly nose. Great value and very filling.

Tuesday, September 23, 2008 - Benito's Hat – it's named after extravagantly titfered Mexican national hero Benito Juárez – is the baby of Ben Fordham, whose burrito epiphany came in Texas, not California, an enthusiasm that took him as far as cooking school in Oaxaca. He's a dedicated chap, tracking down a 'fantastic' supplier of fresh chillies in Bedfordshire who grows not only habaneros, jalapenos and serranos but also the tomatillos needed for a salsa verde with depth and tang.

Wonderful place for a takeaway, I use it frequently. However I would never dine in there, why do they have to ruin it by playing 'music' so loudly that I have to shout to the staff to make myself heard?

It's almost impossible to go anywhere now without being having to yell over noise but Benito's Hat (Goodge Street anyway) should be referred to the noise team.

I am a regular take-away customer here and the Burrito is outstanding - every time fresh, delicious and a big portion which is more then enough as the main meal for the day.

The service is very friendly and easily picks up if someone is new to the concept of Burritos, helping with great advice.

All this for a fantastic price, with nice extras like free tacos in the bag and served with a bit smile - recommendation!

The sitting area itself is always very clean and tidy and makes a good impression.

One of the best burritos I've ever had, and cheap too.

That's probably all you need to know about Benito's Hat. If you're heading out for the night, or been shopping all day, don't get pub food or a supermarket sandwich, go to Benito's Hat.

It really is that good.

Fast service and great tasting burritos for around £5.

Queues at lunch time are pretty crazy - prepare to wait for 15 minutes. Eating later in the day is much quieter.

There is very limited seating indoors so you have to arrive early to secure a table.

A great place and a very filling £5 lunch

Just outstanding - the service was quick and friendly, the pork burrito with black beans, cheese, sour cream, guacamole and picante salsa was both huge and delicious beyond words, and the price was so reasonable I had to wonder whether I was still in London..

fantastic authentic burritos, with real flavour. although the actual restaurant lacks a great deal of atmosphere (being more of a whistlestop meal destination) the quality of the food and variety make up for this. will definitely be going back there! - but not on a date, mexican food is not something to be eaten in front of anyone you fancy!

great food at benitos hat ive been there twice and intend to go back, love the steak burritos, and the margaritas are the best ive ever tried, although they do need a bigger venue a bit cramp.

Wednesday, October 15, 2008 - When you are ordering it is hard to go past the burritos which are huge servings. Ben, the owner who has thrown in life as a tax lawyer to start up Benito's Hat (clearly a hero for all frustrated wage slaves) recommends the pork. You can design your own burrito at the counter so I got my soft floury burrito packed with shreds of pork, pungent black beans, cheese, sour cream, tangy salsa, rice and creamy guacamole. The girl serving me asked if I wanted sour cream or cheese. I had not realised this was an "or" question. Clearly both are mandatory.
